Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Initially sat inside the pub area but the pew seating is so uncomfortable so moved outside. Lovely Autumnal afternoon but the heater above the table didn’t work which was a shame. Husband then pointed out some dog poo next to where we sat. We then...discovered dog poo around the entire fake grass area. It was so unpleasant we left promptly. Appreciate we are in the colder months but the pub wasn’t busy so the could have tended to the small outdoor area and sorted out the dog mess and all the fallen leaves. Such a shame as I doubt we will return.More

Food is amazing here! Chloe who was serving us was friendly and helpful, we sat in the lounge near the roaring fire , the starters of prawns and salmon were fresh! We had the chicken and leek pie full of chicken, mash was perfect along...with green beans, our child had macaroni cheese and loved it, other family member had The Thai chicken curry and loved it, the puddings we had were sticky toffee , crème brûlée and the apple crumble and couldn’t fault it, would highly recommend!!More

Under new management/ownership but still the same great quality roast and service. Beef cooked to perfection and the whole roast chicken to share was succulent and tasty (and enough in the doggy bag for sandwiches for 2..). All the trimmings, perfectly cooked and generous portions…attentive...and friendly service… what’s not to love..More

Had lunch there with local friends this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a lovely old pub, loads of character. Very nice landlord who'd set an open fire for us to keep warm on a chilly, wet day. Good service and we all had a...great lunch. Will definitely be very happy to visit again.More

This has been a favourite for Sunday roasts so the first time we have tried it on a Saturday night. It was surprisngy empty which does bode the question why? Service was excellent as were the meals. All fantastically presented and tasting. The only comment...was that they were slightly exuberant with the salt on the batterd haddock and chips. Th elasied sdod strugge with the selection of dishes due to hter being no white meat (chicken), meat alternatives unless having fish. My personal dislike was that the mains did not come with any sides so another £5 to the actual cost of the course. This is not the regular pub grub venue and has set its sights high and put the prices up to accomodate. 2nd dislike was the cost of a coffee! Must be the dearest for miles. An excellent eneing otherwise with really good food, a little pricey, but where isn't these days. No snelaky 12.5 or even 15 seen altely, servic echarge, jusyt the acceptable 10% and added as a 'discretionary' charge unlike some we have been to where they add it as if part of the service and some with VAT added afterwards!! Over £50/head with a low priced wine so not a cheap meal out. All in all, a very good restaurant-pub is ok as well. Nice ambience, new furniture and friendly efficient service. Deffinitley a 'go-to' venue.More

Feeling hungry, we diverted off our route to the coast and found ourselves in Frant and the Abergavenny Arms. We were shown to a table and given a menu and advice on a light lunch. There was a long list of tapas dishes, which we...had not tried before, and with 4 for the price of 3 an excellent recommendation. Having made our choice, and decided on a shared tub of chunky chips to go with them, we were delighted with our choice of food. It is well worth a visit to read the history of the building.More

Lovely afternoon enjoying the sun sat in the garden meeting friends for lunch. Food was very good, service not so good. Long delay between the meals arriving and cutlery and condiments, empty glasses not being cleared but overall, the weather, company and food made for...a pleasant experienceMore

Well who doesn’t go out for Sunday lunch ? I have been so disappointed by most them recently ,just not paying attention to detail whereas here the meat ,lamb loin was cooked to perfection as was the pork with super crackling and lovely gravy, veg and...crispy roast potatoes with a bonus of cauliflower cheese. Washed down with 2020 Macon The desert was a strawberry soufflé with marscapone ice cream very light and not too sweet with a super strawberry sauce Very enjoyableMore

Went here as we were staying in a nearby shepherd's hut. Have had a fab roast dinner so we were looking forward to dinner. The mushroom tart and pork croquette starters were both fantastic. The pork main was really tasty but was topped with a...piece of crackling (I think) that tasted old and like cardboard which was really not nice, my partners lamb was cold so we sent it back to be reheated and when it came back replated there was no puree for the carrots as there was on the original dish. We ordered the spinach and creamed potato sides which were lovely but for the price of mains it would be nice if they came with more, my pork had two strips of cavalo nero and that was about it. The pudding was a crumble souffle but it wasn't anything to write home about. The service was great but when you're paying over £100 for a meal it would be nice to not have so many niggles.More

Lunch was unimpressive with roast potatoes probably cooked hours previously and a distinct lack of freshness with most of the ingredients. The ambience deserves better, beer excellent.
