We are family owned Italian restaurant serving your favourite traditional, authentic dishes. In the past couple of years we have won a number of awards for our food and customer service and would love the opportunity to welcome you to our Rogerstone (outskirts of Newport) restaurant. Our menu includes all your favourite traditional Italian dishes. Each is individually prepared for your enjoyment and to your taste. We visited rogerstone and booked on a Monday evening, enjoyed the first time so much we booked for another night in the same week. There were 5 adults and our toddler both visits. The service was fantastic, friendly and professional throughout. Attentive but not overbearing.
Wine selection was good - nice to try something a bit different and see some proper Italian options on there. The pizzas were incredible, some of the best we have tasted, super light dough and tasty toppings.
A couple of the meals were good, but not fantastic. Nothing wrong per se, but lacking a little flavour. Hence 4 not 5 stars.
Beautiful dessert cocktails. Impressive Covid precautions, we felt safe and the restaurant was spotless. Will return again in the future!

We booked a table for Saturday night for our daughters 18th celebration meal as we saw a piece in the local paper about them having so many no shows the previous weekend. Unfortunately they had obviously overbooked this week to compensate for the no shows.
However it looks like everyone turned up as the place was packed.
We had to stand in the entrance for 20 minutes whilst waiting for our booked table. When we finally got seated we couldn't hear a word any of us was saying due to the noise.
When the order was finally take it then took 65 minutes to arrive, which was 1.5hrs after our booking time. My daughter was so fed up she just wanted to go home.
The only reason we stayed is that we know the food is great, as is the service under normal conditions.
They just let themselves down due to overcrowding the place which removed the both the fun and the atmosphere.
I really hope they don't fall into the overbooking trap again, as they will lose customers. Those behind us in the queue, and quite a number in the restaurant were not impressed by the service. They let themselves down badly, though we will try again as they are better than this.

Very nice all round
Great food, tasty, fresh and plentiful
Drinks were nice, cocktails lacked finesse but were strong so not complaining.
Staff were great, very accommodating, great knowledge of the food and very polite and attentive.
Very tasty food, high standard of cooking and all meals looked great
Will definitely return soon

Main meal was ok but would of liked chicken more moist and more veg, served a little on the cold side as was the plate it was served on. Dessert absolute delicious but served dry with no cream or ice cream. Tables a little bit too close together which impacts a little on the quality of conversation Lovely friendly staff and good service.

We’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while after hearing good reviews from friends and colleagues. The food wasn’t bad, but not good enough to return. We had starters and mains, and the starters seemed a little overpriced for what we got (sausage starter and tomato/mozzarella starter). There wasn’t much chicken in my pasta dish, and my partners veal main dish wasn’t very generous... the plate was mostly filled with sauce. I can’t say there was anything wrong with the taste of the food, but with the quantity and quality of the ingredients we were left a little underwhelmed.
Staff were great. Quick service (maybe a bit too quick for some), and felt totally safe with their COVID measures.
I don’t feel that it was worth the money unfortunately.

We visited Mamma Lina's on a Saturday lunchtime with two boisterous young children. The staff were really helpful and dealt with us all with unfailing good humour. We all ate from the lunchtime special 2-course menu and it was stunning value with eye-popping piles of whitebait starters and enormous delicious pizzas. Our first visit but won't be the last as it's top of the list when we next visit South Wales.

I have visited here twice since “lockdown” has ended and was impressed both times with how careful the staff are with their temperature checks and social distancing. There is an option to view the menu on your phone using a QR code but for those who don’t want to, they have laminated menus. I’d say the food is well priced but the drinks are rather overpriced in my opinion. The staff are friendly and do the whole social distancing interaction well. There is an option to have an early bird menu before 6:30 but we didn’t know this until we got there as the website is not up to date and there is also loads more choice on the actual menu. Meatballs are a must try! And the hazelnut ice cream is amazing. Authentic food and friendly staff, it’s definitely worth visiting!

Visited with my daughter who had raved about the place for ages and has booked a table for a nice meal out for us both. My expectations were perhaps a little high given all the great things I had heard. The evening did not get off to a good start when we did not experience a good welcome from the young lady who checked us in. She marked our names off on the pad and told us to go upstairs. We duly complied and found an upstairs dining area and separate seating area. Thinking our table was upstairs we went to the door and stood for some minutes with no one coming over. It appeared to us that it may have been a private party so we then moved to sit in the seating area. We sat there for twenty minutes. No one came to take a drinks order etc and we were a little confused by this stage. I then decided to go to the dining room door and attracted a member of staffs attention. I told her we had been sent upstairs from downstairs and she asked me if we had booked a table. I responded that we had and she took us both downstairs, checked we had booked in and then we were shown to our table - in the downstairs dining area. Not a great start tbh. I was a little irritated and my daughter embarrassed. We were still focussed on having a good time though.
The service was a little slow at times but servers were pleasant enough when attending and taking orders. The cocktails were ordered lovely. My daughter enjoyed her mussels as a starter. My starter of meatballs were a small portion although tasty. The pizza for my main I found a little soggy tbh with my daughter having the swordfish. It was a very generous portion which was a great surprise as often a fish dish at other restaurants can be quite small.
I chose the dark chocolate orange torte for my desert which was absolutely gorgeous and my daughter had a desert cocktail which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall, we had a pleasant evening. I know my daughter will definitely return as she loves it there however she was disappointed that the experience she was hoping to share with me didn’t quite go to plan and did not exceed my expectations.

Just back from a fantastic evening at Mamma Lina's for my daughter's birthday. Honestly a faultless experience. From the warm and friendly welcome upon arrival to the delicious food, our evening could not have gone better. They were busy but socially distanced tables and temp checks on arrival meant we felt safe and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. I had the stunning meatball starter and a ribeye steak which was all cooked to perfection. To top it all off they were offering eat out to help out throught Sept (On Mon/Tues/Weds so we had a big saving on our bill. We will be back soon for sure!! Loved it xx

We visited this restaurant for the first time, everything looked nice and the staff are very helpful and friendly . The cocktail menu is very expensive £9 for an average cocktail is a bit pricey for a place in a side street in risca . We’re not snobby people but expect to have the wow factor at these prices . The food average . I had the crab spaghetti which was under seasoned,my husband ordered the chicken filled with ricotta cheese and vegetables. We had cheese garlic bread to start which was burnt all round the edges. We would eat there again but be very weary of the price list. Average food for an average place.

Hi. Thank you for taking the time to visit and to leave a review for our Rogerstone restaurant. The prices of all our food and drinks including cocktails is readily available for you to view before ordering and if you deem it to be too expensive then please don't order it. Each cocktail is handmade using fresh ingredients and these not only cost but they take time to prepare.
We allow our customers to season the crab spaghetti as they prefer because it is very easy to over season from the kitchen which cannot be reversed when served. We trust you were offered black pepper and other seasonings?
The garlic bread is hand made and baked in our pizza over to make it crispy and will often have darker areas around the edges.
We hope you do choose to visit again and wish you well.

In celebration of my 70th birthday, we had a family get-together at Mamma Lina's restaurant last Friday. Mam had also had a big birthday but she does not go out much, as her sight is not too great. However, our table was placed under a bright ceiling light. Service was great and meals were home-made and delicious and we had a thoroughly relaxing evening at Mamma Lina's. All the family enjoyed their food, aged from 9 - 92 years of age, so really pleased that the birthday celebration went well in a lovely atmosphere. My mother would love to go to the restaurant again which is a testament to how comfortable she felt, and how much she enjoyed the food.

Booking was easy by contacting the restaurant via a booking form. Very prompt response within minutes. We received a very warm welcome and we’re seated at our table quickly and provided with menus and a carafe of water. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The menu has lots of choice and is very reasonably priced. They were able to cater for gluten free too. I had the best lasagne I have tasted before and I have travelled widely. The portion was generous without being over facing and it came with a piece of garlic ciabatta. My husband had chicken and mushroom risotto. Again it was a generous portion and was presented beautifully. The staff were very attentive without being overbearing. I would definitely recommend this wonderful family run restaurant to anyone visiting the area.

From the warm welcome when we walked through the door and the smell of fresh pizza’s cooking to the authentic genuine home made Italian food, the whole experience was faultless!
After a long drive to visit the area, we booked a table and the food, service and welcome was amazing! We loved it so much than we had to book again for a couple of nights later.
Pizza’s are freshly made to order and are just the same as we have had in Italy. Starters are amazing, calamari was so fresh and tender and the antipasto was a real
Italian delight!
A lovely meal, a great authentic experience and a restaurant we will come back to when we are in the area again.

A delightful evening was spent tasting delicious Italian cuisine. Our starters were Mussels and Meatballs both dishes were made with care and love.
The service made us feel we were being looked after with care.
Main meals were Swordfish, Clams with Pasta, Chicken with Cream Sauce.
Desserts were delicious tiramisu. If you enjoy Italian cusine you need to visit here.

Like a couple of recent reviewers we had heard great things about Mamma Lina’s and were very much looking forward to giving it a try.
Covid measures on arrival were very good and we were more than comfortable being led to our table of four.
Starters arrived very quickly including a few of the usual suspects. Nothing wrong but nothing special either.
Once again, mains arrived very quickly and although nothing amiss neither was there anything bursting with flavour, a little disappointing.
Service was excellent and all staff very friendly but we all felt the foods was no better than the average Italian restaurant. Shame as during these crazy times we have not been out much but it was nice to be out and feel a bit of normality.
