Had a fantastic Sunday lunch here today. Perfect quality would recommend to anyone. I do not really get the reviews about having to wait a while to be seated etc, this is something to be expected during Covid surely, I feel for the staff if anything needing to manage these hard times! We waited around 3 minutes to be guided to our table and throughout the process staff were very attentive. The food came out a little later than we expected (over 30 mins) not a big issue however, but the staff were more than apologetic without us needing to ask. Would definitely visit again.

The food was very nice albeit a little pricey, the downside was the service, although friendly was very slow. We had a table booked for 6pm, by 6.30 we gave in and asked for menus and drinks order to be taken but before that was done the covid check in was done, surely that should have been done as soon as we got there. Three of out party had starters which we didn’t receive until at least 7.20 just after we had asked what was happening with our order. Yes they were quite busy but the delay was too long when we had pre booked. I have worked in the trade, even at the peacock many years ago, and that wouldn’t have been acceptable when I worked there. Would I return, yes possibly but not on a Saturday tea time that’s for sure.

Unfortunately we ate there during the government scheme. Having been away we were unaware of this! The staff were amazing and this is no result of the service. The company who delivered food had forgotten the garden peas. I think they should have nipped to Tesco for some. They used to do a lovely pineapple chutney on the gammon but no longer do this. The Gammon cost £14 and was no better than we get normally for 2 for £12. We also had a £14 burger which would be ok if the chips on both meals hadn’t cut the inside of our mouths. Not thrice cooked chips but over cooked chips! If we had have eaten there on Friday it would have been no better. I asked for bottle of wine and was delivered a half empty bottle - I fully understand that the waitress had just picked up the first bottle available. We were asked how our meal was and I explained the difficulties to be told they have just opened up. I understand this but I also worked through the lock down and I had to give 100%. We were grateful for the 50% discount on the meals and the service

We live locally and have eaten here several times over the past 2 years. Today will probably be our last visit. A few aspects of the food and service lead to the review. A lengthy wait to take our order despite the restaurant being very quiet. (Young staff stood drinking coffee). When I asked if we could order a supervisor was summoned. This just gave me the impression that the younger staff were not able to serve tables. Not sure how hard it is to order 2 starters and two mains?? The starter of poached pear with pistachio held great promise, alas it was a 1/4 of a pear with a sprinkle of pistachio nuts some leaves and cucumber.... no dressing, no imagination and frankly no taste. Disappointing. Food (Sunday lunch) Luke warm and the cauliflower cheese served in tureens which should have been piping, were cool to the touch. Could get if we were being served at 3.30pm but this was 12.30pm at the start of service. Young front of house staff whilst polite just aren’t bothered. Sad as we had enjoyed plenty of lovely meal prior to this.

Nice pub. Lovely staff. Good music. The food was not good at all. The fish finger sandwich was a piece of fish cut in half that didn’t contain much fish and was mostly VERY greasy batter. It was awful and the little bit I ate made me feel rather ill for the rest of the afternoon... Average bread. Frozen chips. An unimaginative side salad that was drenched in vinaigrette. The cup of tea was nice...

Thank you so much to Charlotte and her team for a lovely much needed lockdown date night! The food was absolutely delicious & this was our first time in the restaurant area but in these uncertain times I can certainly say we felt safe and very much looked after. Reduced menu but due to these circumstances, not a problem, still a varied choice and with specials available too whilst at decent prices. The place itself is spotless, hand sanitiser to use as you come in, signs are up regarding social distancing and one way systems are in place aswel as table service. They could not be doing anything more to keep their customers and their staff safe! Would highly recommend any day of the week for lunch or tea and we can’t wait to come back for another date night ⭐️ Thank you again Charlotte & team xx

Great food & service. Being someone who is gluten intolerant, The Peacock accommodates really well, I really appreciated it. We stayed in the Peak district for 4 nights & ate here for 3 of them. Also really appreciated providing a chicken burger option when this was not on the original menu, staff go out of their way to make their customers happy. We had a variety of meals, all were delicious and told locally sourced & fresh - you could taste it 😉 A welcoming and Cozy atmosphere. We will defo be returning back home to Cambridge and letting all our friends & family know, we shall defo be returning back ourselves when we next visit.

My wife and I went for lunch today to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed a lovely traditional roast lunch with the usual friendly and attentive service from Charlotte and her staff. Thank you for helping us mark our special day.

Party of 13 for a family reunion for Sunday lunch, the tables were set in an L shape which wasn’t convenient for us at all . We all ordered our lunch which came out altogether and hot , some of us had the Sunday lunch but we only had a couple of roast potatoes , no new potatoes or mash to go with it , roasted carrots and parsnips and greens were separate ( broccoli and mange tout ) but not a lot of , with a Yorkshire pudding . The service was excellent and we liked the jug of water on the table . The puddings was nice but expensive at £6-£7 . Would return again but for a occasion

Called in for Sunday roast first time we had visited on reading reviews. First Impressions lovely pub nice decor, the service at the table was good during our meal no one asked if everything was ok, on having chosen to have Turkey dinner which we noticed the meat portions were small compared to other Sunday roasts which we have experienced in other pubs, the meals came and we both commented that the gravy was not made from the Turkey stock and was not the usual.turkey gravy you would expect,it was a very strong flavour that did not suit the Turkey roast. We spoke to the manageress in a constructive way and was quite shocked by being told only one gravy for all roasts, she then went to the chef and returned with a tub of ready gravy made by Knorr?? and was told this is used across the board as this is suitable for vegetarians which is out of place for a having a Sunday roast. The manageress was extremely / argumentative and no interest in customer care and openly admitting that no one had asked how our meal was when we questioned that, eventually she agreed that the meal.had been spoilt so knocked our drinks off and left unsatisfied with the manner and attitude which we had been dealt with highly unprofessional

This review is no surprise to myself or any of the team here at The Peacock hence my reason for the reply as you have missed out vital information!! For anyone reading this we have hundred's of positive reviews on trip advisor and google. You were dealt with yesterday by my Assistant Manger who is a well respected lady and is polite and professional at all times never once in her time with us has her attitude and her manner been unprofessional. We serve over 150 covers every Sunday and on our regular menu we are serving a Christmas dinner not one person has ever said anything negative about our gravy, many praising just how delicious is it is and wanting more! Here at The Peacock we cater for all our gravy is vegetarian, gluten free and suitable to serve with any dish. You should of been checked back on and for this I apologise but if your dinner was so bad I wonder why you didn't bring it to anyone's attention before you ate it all? no you didn't you just went on to cause a massive scene in front of staff and other diners demanding that you speak to chef, asking if you refused to pay would the staff run after you?? then this is the best bit saying we will socially abuse you on social media if you don't discount the bill so get ready!! So to cut a long story short you ate every last bit of your dinner you didn't like the gravy because it was not made of turkey stock so you abused and blackmailed my staff to discount your bill!! If your ever in the area again please be sure to drive on past as you are not welcome here!!!

We stayed in Cutthorpe over the weekend and visited The Peacock Inn on a couple of occasions, once for a drink and the next time for dinner, Staff recognised us on the second time we visited and treated us very well. Locals were very friendly and helpful with locations to visit. Food was very nice, even though a little pricey for us usually it was well worth it and to be honest more reasonable when we saw the bill. Great for dogs and if you wanted to eat dinner like we did with your fury friend, you can eat in the bar area which is lovely. Would highly recommend and you should also consider booking as I believe they do get rather busy.

Just had a lovely evening at The Peacock. We attended for a meal on the eat out to help out scheme. The pub was busy as we expected but our food was served in a timely manner and was delicious, nicely presented and very good quality. It’s the first time that we have eaten out since Covid-19 and we were unsure what to expect. The pub was clean, well organised with a one way system in place and hand sanitising stations. The staff were clearly very busy but were efficient and stuck to the government guidelines with social distancing, queuing on arrival etc. Staff should be praised for this - sticking to the rules and keeping us all safe!. A very enjoyable evening, lovely atmosphere and great food. Would definitely recommend.

We visited as a couple today Sunday 12th March. The food in the pub and restaurant have always previously been very good, and we have told the staff same on each visit. However today was not good. First course Ham and Pea soup was excellent. We both ordered lamb for the main, but the meat was almost all very tough. I mentioned this to the waitress when she enquired if we were enjoying our meal during the second course. The assistant manger was called and informed us that we should have complained earlier and the kitchen would have changed the lamb for more lamb. I stated that this was unlikely to have worked because the replaced meat was very likely going to have been tough as well. The assistant lectured us on the pubs policy that they do not make refunds unless a complaint has been made at the start of the meal, and that no other customer complaints had been made. 90% of the meat was inedible so this was wrapped to take away for our dogs, and clearly on view at the table. When the bill was presented I noticed that the full meal cost was included. I complained and the assistant manager returned. She was very argumentative and loud in front of a full restaurant and continued with her stance that there was nothing she could do. My payment had been intended by card, but due to the assistant managers intransigent stance, I settled by cash with a £ 22 short payment. This was accepted by her without any further resistance after I made it clear that I was only prepared to pay what the meal was worth. We will eventually return, but the poor customer service and tough lamb has left a bad taste.

Thank you to the staff at the Peacock for a lovely anniversary meal. The food was as delicious as always but in these uncertain times I can safely say we felt safe and looked after. The place itself is absolutely spotless (as it always is) There’s sanitiser to use as you come in, around the pub and in the toilets. Signs are up regarding social distancing and one way systems are in place. The tables are spaced out too with table service. Would highly recommend especially in these difficult times. Thanks again we’ll be visiting soon 😃😃😃
