WARNING. If you are coeliac do not eat at this restaurant. Absolutely appalling customer service. Attended for a family birthday meal. Party of 8 with two children. Our child became ill vomiting, bloating, diaherrea and passing out shortly after her meal at Burt's. Coeliacs will...know the time scale in which symptoms present after gluten is ingested and how long lasting the effects of consuming gluten are, so serious concern right? We reached out to bring this to the attention of staff at Burt's the next day only to be told they couldn't have had anything to do with it as 'they did everything right'. Well clearly not if she presented with symptoms shortly after eating her meal at Burt's. No accountability or apology from GM. We realize accidents do happen and food handling is subject to human error. However we manage to not poison our child with our food preparation every day, so if a business is claiming that they cater for Gluten Free dietary requirements and then falls short of that expectation, an apology is expected at the very least and perhaps a reassurance that staff training will be refreshed. I have to say this is the first establishment we have encountered who has handled the poisoning of a child in this manner. And please don't think we expected any sort of freebies because we tend not to revisit places that have made one of us ill. We didn't even complain about the cost to valet our car that got covered in vomit. But it is out duty to other Coeliac sufferers to inform a food business if they've put someone at risk. To bring awareness to the matter. Really bad form. Won't be returning nor recommending.More

8 of us recently visited Bert's for a family meal. Unfortunately my 8 year old coeliac daughter was extremely ill for 2 days after, as she was glutened after making the staff aware of her condition and that she was unable to consume gluten. I...spoke to Charlie, after she had spoken to the various members of staff who were working that night. I was repeatedly told, that everyone had taken the care they were supposed to have. and essentially implying that it couldn't have been them, and even the general manager agrees. This was quite alarming to me, as even if they think they did everything right to avoid cross-contamination, someone clearly missed something, or didn't take the required level of care when serving food to my daughter. She wouldn't have been glutened otherwise! Accidents do happen, and this negative review could have quite easily been avoided if I was given some reassurances, like acknowledging that someone must have missed something somewhere. Ensuring that we will re-evaluate our kitchen processes in regards to allergens, and providing additional training to staff to ensure this doesn't happen again. However, all I received was a complete lack of accountability and not even a sincere apology. Very disappointing, obviously we will not be returning and I will be contacting the FSA.More

We are staying near by for two nights and had tea twice at berts , the servers on both nights have been welcoming, polite and pleased to help in anyway. Charlotte R and Jodie. Atmosphere is beautiful overlooking the lake and the cook was amazing....Timing was great no long waits. All round amazing place to go with fabulous staff... a must do 😄 They were so lovely in helping me do a happy birthday for my husband.. could hear the kitchen staff singing happy birthday 😆More

We had a lovely meal at Bert’s, the Tuscan chicken pasta in particular was excellent. The food arrived quickly and our waitress Charlotte R was very friendly and welcoming. We’ll be back soon!

Relaxed , picturesque venue. Fabulous pizza was even allowed to amend toppings! Service from Poppy was superb , thank you Would highly recommend.

Poppy was our waitress and she was AMAZING! She recommended dishes with sincerity and ensures our evening was special. A great place to eat.

We have been here a few times now and every time we get great service, coupled with great food and a lovely place to be. Poppy who looked after us was excellent. Food was well presented & very good until the puddings came out and 2 were served in paper cups ???? And all 4 of us were freezing they had no heating on at all when told the answer was the glass makes it hard to...heat and they had put the door heaters on to try help warm the place …… they heat the exit & entrances only & there was no other heating on really cold we ate & left . Shame as we often eat here …We will return in the sunnier / hotter monthsMore

Brilliant meal. Our waitress Sophie was great! It's the second time we've been to Bert's and both times it's been excellent. Looking forward to coming back again soon!

Shockingly small portion , tasteless and over cooked pork , pasta ragu couldn’t find the beef , also no taste. Have been a regular here but won’t be returning , ok place if you want burger or pizza .

We came to kingfisher lakes for a weekend away, berts was a recommendation from our lovely host. We ate at burts Friday and Saturday, we popped for a drink Saturday afternoon too, the staff were lovely and welcoming every single time. A special thankyou to...or server's Claudia and Megan.
