Out of the four of us who visited, two meals were good, the other two much less so. Starters: Meat balls. Nothing terrible to report, but fairly bland & lacked seasoning Seabass: enjoyable & nicely cooked. Pizza: nice, but a fairly average pizza & not worth nearly 15 quid Chicken Burger: chicken was overly tough, bread was very dry (almost stale) Classic Burger: Ciabatta roll was dry & clearly passed it's best. The burger was a complete joke. Approximately 6cm in diameter, occupying approx one third of the ciabatta roll. It was overcooked and nearly black. Seriously, there was more meat in the meatball starters. I am mystified how anyone with eyes though this was acceptable for the money. We asked the waitress for a solution and she eventually provided another burger patty. Slightly bigger (but only just) and, disappointingly undercooked. Not worth the £55 we spent. Won't be returning.

Nice experience with attentive staff. Spoilt a bit by rowdy children running around the restaurant but we maybe should’ve come a bit later in the day so our fault. Portions could do with being a bit bigger and hugely overpriced tiny portion of chips! It was the first time I had visited and was expecting a really special experience so was slightly disappointed. Will return, but not in a rush

We had been staying at Dacre Lakeside park for a few days and we chose to get a takeaway from here for our lodge, we ordered the cheesy garlic bread, couple of pizzas and some fries. When I went to pick food up only had to wait couple of minutes, the fries were beautiful, so crispy and light. The pizzas were also delicious, the kids are very last bit and they can be fussy with pizza, overall a lovely meal. Inside the restaurant looked great what I could see and social distancing was adhered to

We rang to see if they had any tables available to which they didn't which is fair enough. We rang later on about 7 ish to order a take away to which they said we can do it for 8.20-8.30 we arrived to pick up the food at 8.20 for them to then say oh we will just put it in now. It took about 40 extra minutes to get the food... We got two pizzas and two portions of the cheesy fries which came to £33 which would have been fine if it would have been good food but the chips had maybe three grains of cheese on and the pizza really lacked meat.i never usually leave reviews unless it's a good review but I feel other people need to know. I would not recommend eating here unless you want to be disappointed!

So disappointed with our recent visit. We regularly stay in the lodges and make Berts our regular Saturday night out. Always loved the food. However, there was definitely a real slide in the food quality. My partner ordered pesto pasta...never saw any pesto. I had chicken saltimbucca... essentially chicken with tomato sauce and two slices of dried bread (£15). Our friend had to send his sea bass back it was so dry. Our other friend had chicken burger and that was also dry as old bones!!! So 4 poor meals! No excuse at all when they’re charging the prices they charge! Sadly, would be really reluctant to return!! Take my advice, go to the local chippy or the pub!

Our first visit wasn't a great experience but thought we'd give it another go...second time around was no better. Slow service, didn't clear our table after eating or ask if we would like anymore drinks/desserts and the food is disappointing. The dressing on the Caesar salad was far too heavy. The Halloumi and Asparagus salad was a plate of spinach, little dressing and two small pieces of cold halloumi, no asparagus to be seen! (£13.00)...overpriced food and lack of quality service. Will we visit a third time...no!

Beautiful setting but slow and forgetful service. We ordered hot chocolates which arrived tepid. The waitress accidently spilled into the saucer and I requested a serviette which she said she'd get right away but it never arrived, I spotted some blue role and cleaned it myself. A coffee we ordered at the same time arrived 10 minutes after once we reminded the waitress. We ordered breakfast and were worried when a chef placed two plates on the service counter, he called for service three times over a total of 10 minutes while the waitress polished glasses at the bar. Luckily the food wasn't ours. Our meal arrived, most of it was lovely however all the bacon was over cooked and my scrambled eggs were so salty I couldn't eat them. The waitress offered to bring some more however I declined as I would have finished the rest of my meal by the time the eggs would have arrived. We frequently had to request things twice as the waitresses tended to forget, one waitress apologised but said it was because the were busy.... the restaurant was less than 1/2 full.

Not really impressed poor service. Was given the wrong drinks when I asked for the drinks to be replaced I was corrected several times that the drinks were correct. The waitress that served was passive aggressive. Small choice on the menu. When we ordered further drinks it took an eternity. To many flies hanging around. Have been several times previously. . Post lock down service is a reflection of the general decline matched to an increase in the costings of basic food which my wages have not been increased to these levels. We're returning to more home cooking.....

We were looking to have a good Calzone. Very few places know how to make a good one. Bert’s did not disappoint! This is one of the best Calzones we’ve had and the topping for the Calzone was just perfect. Most places don’t even do a sauce topping for a Calzone, I think it’s a must. I chose the meat feast which was delicious and the chicken was so tender and soft. There was plenty of mozzarella inside aswell. We also had Bruschetta with prawn and chorizo for starter, I thought it was expensive for the starter but worth it. The atmosphere in the place was great and we loved the style of the place. Well worth a visit. We can’t wait to go back.

Got a little hello on arrival, plenty of staff with nothing to do and for a “fully booked restaurant” all the empty tables were still empty when we left. Had our order taken, food came hurrah! Nope, wrong food, he didn’t know what dish was what or wheat we even ordered and he took it away apologising, then a waitress came over confirmed our order and sent back the same plates of food, I then questioned the waiter who came back with our food asking him does that look like meatballs or would you say it’s chicken, he said yes it’s chicken so the order was wrong again as we confirmed it was the first time around. Mine however was the correct meal just being walking around back and fourth getting colder and colder. Finally the food came back mine barely warm and a fresh meatball pasta hotter than the sun! (Only thing that was hot) the garlic bread with cheese was basically bread with cheese not a single bit of garlic to be seen! The waiter said he’d come back with a pizza wheel and didn’t and the bruschetta was a bread roll with sun dried tomatoes and if you were lucky a mozzarella morsel. The only good thing was the wine and that was from Chile. We did get offered a complimentary dessert and refused as I didn’t want to take another risk of eating this poor, below average food. The cooks in this place need a long hard lesson in how to cook. This is not an Italian restaurant, this is a cafe that serves cold pasta. I’m not at all being harsh this is just my honest opinion.

Had lunch here while on holiday. Very well social distancing. Good menu and very reasonable. Staff very helpful. We had a gluten free member in our group and they easily catered for her, providing a gluten free pizza. They also let another person change a tomato base for a pizze for a garlic one. They had no problem helping with our requests.

Tried to book in twice to the restaurant but told that it was full (during the eat out help out scheme), however when attended to collect take away it was empty. Was then charged full restaurant price for take away. Usually it’s cheaper to take away than eat in. Also when I queried if the eat out help out discount been applied I was informed that this only applied on eating in the restaurant (which was apparently booked yet empty!). Strange how places like McDonald’s could apply this discount to customers but not berts?! So needless to say the price of the take away was really disappointing

Opening night and our first date night for several months. Warm welcome as always, the staff were great and we had a lovely view of the lake. The food was yummy, 2 starters, I had lasagna for main and my partner had the braised beef short rib both were cooked to perfection! Finished with sticky toffee pudding. In case people are a little worried after lockdown the tables are nicely spaced, hand sanitiser available at various points and protective shields to keep staff safe. There's a door in and a door out to ensure your safety and all staff wear masks. All this and the atmosphere was still just as lovely as before. Good job Berts!

Dont be persuaded to dine here because of the great location...sadly I was. Dined there with my husband and son as we were visiting Hull. The only good part of the meal were the drinks as they were straight out of a container! We ordered a starter of bread and oil. When the bread arrived we were shocked by the tiny slices of bread, they looked more like crusts and they were burnt. I get char grilled, but this was charcoal. So we sent it back. It arrived after a few minutes and still one 'crust' was burnt. The oil was served with a balsamic glaze rather than a balsamic vinegar, so it was gloopy. We ordered 5 different dishes and they took a long time to arrive. Three dishes of pasta were served together but the other two dishes were not served until much later. We ordered the beef, crab and squash tagliatelle. My butternut squash tagliatelle was so over seasoned with salt and pepper that I instantly sent it back. I then had to wait whilst everyone else ate their meal. My replacement dish was served with the two missing dishes from our original order, it took that long! This time the portion was half the size of the first one and yet again it was inedible. I returned it and didnt bother ordering anything else. My husbands crab tagliatelle was over cooked and rather slimy. My sons beef tagliatelle was ok. The restaurant was not busy and there seemed to be plenty of staff so there was no excuse for such poor food and slow service. The quality and quantity of food was poor and certainly not worth the £10/£11 per dish that consisted of cheap pasta and a few meagre ingredients. I had 3 x centimeter cubes of squash on my tagliatelle which constituted a 'portion'. We certainly didnt order a dessert and left after paying a staggering £53 for the most disappointing meal weve EVER had in a restaurant. Furthermore, a few hours later my husband had an 'upset stomach' and had to dash to the bathroom. I would NOT recommend anyone to eat here. The food is poor, badly cooked and expensive. There are many other places in Hull marina that might not have such a great view but do have good food with less emphasis on their profit margins!

Nice location, nice building and that's all I can sat positive. Main course took 35 minutes to arrive because the chef had missed a chilli burger off the order. When the main course finally arrived the order was wrong. Plain burger instead of chilli burger. Instead of offering another burger I was brought a bowl of sliced chillies to compensate. Then my daughter found a piece of tinfoil with baked into her pizza about the size of a 10p piece. Looked like half a lid off something. Pointed this out to the waitress who took it away to speak to the chef. No one cam back with with any explanation as to what it was. By this point we've seen enough, so paid the bill and left. No money deducted from the bill or any compensation offered for the delay ,wrong meal or pizza with tinfoil in it.
