Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We’ve had an amazing few days at this pub. Located just next to the campsite this a firm favourite and we will be back. Fantastic staff, amazing food and great atmosphere. Thanks for the memories.

While camping in the area we visited the Ship and Anchor and saw an Elton John tribute act, he was absolutely amazing! We had so much fun and really made our evening. In the Morning we visited again for breakfast. The food was lovely and...great value of money. On Both occasions we are served by Camilla and Stew, both were lovely, always had a smile on their faces and made us feel very welcomed even though they were very busy on Sunday night. All in all a great bank holiday weekend. We look forward to visiting again soon.More

We were staying in the campsite next door, and thought we would just pop in for a quick drink on the Friday evening when we got there, well the pub was so good, were were in there Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and extended our stay...so we could have a bit more time there. Every member of the team there were fantastic, polite, friendly. An absolute credit. We will defiantly be visiting again.More

Living locally I’ve known this pub for over 25 years but stopped going because of the attitude of the previous management. Hearing about the change we went for lunch to try it out. The staff are quite young but very friendly and helpful. The food...although a bit on the expensive side, ham egg and chips £14 (?) was very good but the desserts and coffee were disappointing, plus no steak available, surely the easiest thing to stock. My son reported his double burger as excellent, the chips were fresh hot and crispy as they should be. I had the special haddock in beer batter, it was good but lacked flavour but I blame the fish for that. Overall the meals including my wife’s BLT were very good. The menu lacks a USP and needs some inspiration, however I recommend you give it a try, although the caravan park alongside gives an impression of it being a holiday camp, it’s not. Lovely walks alongside the river side as well.More

I have become something of a regular, even stayed at the campsite. I cannot recommend enough! Staff and Mangers are really friendly and professional. Good range of beers (please keep the Ghost Ship!) Food is very good - all freshly made and delicious. The entertainment...nights are a bonus! Well done to Jennie, Steve and your staff.More

Arrived too late for the Roast. Nevertheless the barman got some sandwiches knocked up even though the kitchen was closed. As we were just finishing them off owners and bar lad pop up with an ice cream surprise, c/w candles, as they heard our son...say it was his sixth birthday! Great food, great people, nice cosy atmosphere. Will definitely be passing by again.More

We dropped in during a day out hoping to grab a bite to eat. When we arrived, we were advised it was fully booked, certainly it was very busy. Seeing our disappointment, and no doubt hearing our bellies rumbling, the lady behind the bar asked...the chef if he could squeeze in another two. The roast was delicious and just what we needed, super friendly staff and overall a great visit, we’d definitely recommend.More

I popped into this deliteful oldie worldie pub today that is hugging the Arundel river. The sun was warm on my back. All I wanted was a couple of bevys and a spot of dinner, after foraging for sea shells with my two little pumpkins....I was not disappointed. I ordered the beer batter fish and chips with an amazing tartar sauce I must get the recipe next time. My two children had what the pub called a taco boat with a lovely selection of fresh vegetables. My oldest inhaled like there was no tomorrow. Yes my hearty's it was all fresh and very comforting food to enjoy. There is not many places that cook this very traditional country pub grub anymore. As you must be very surprised to know I highly recommended a visit. ☠️🦜More

We had arrived at the pub to try it out after re-opening but apart from being very noisy with children and campers, the landlord was allowing people to vape in the bar area, and the smell was throughout the pub. We had planned to eat...but decided to move on. I know it's landlords discretion but this pub was not for us. I have tried to contact the landlord direct but had no response, which is why I'm posting this warning.More

The new management have turned the pub around in a very short space of time. Jenny and Steve and their staff were welcoming and professional. Their choice of band for the evening was excellent. It was a great night and we will definitely be going...back to try out the food.More
