After stopping of with my partner for a drink 🥃 absolutely disgusted after being charged 11 pounds for a bottle of beer and a glass of wine 🍷 so my advice to anyone is keep driving and don’t stop 🛑 how do these people sleep...At night 😴👎More

Despite the information on TripAdviser this pub IS open! We were there on a dreadfully gloomy rainy Saturday afternoon, and were greeted by the very friendly new owner (since 15 weeks). Due to Covid the menu was restricted, but what we had was bloomin' good....Lokal and German beer on tap. Free WiFi. Several ciders seem to be availsble, too, as is white, rose and red wine. Next to the superb views, easily accessible location (just of the A66) and the very charming interior the pub excells in dog-friendlyness. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (and meal) at the Sportsman's Inn in Troutback and will certainly go back there ehen in the area again. Thank you for a lovely afternoon!More

Beware, prepare and visit at your cost. Called in today for a drink and like most visitors arrived by car. No drinks menu displayed or available so if you visit check cost first. I did not but as driving decided to have an alcohol free...beer being Heineken in a 330 Ml bottle. I had 2 of these and was charged £7 . 80p. That makes it over £7.00 a pint. Wow.. where is the incentive to not drink and drive. The Sportsman Inn is definitely one pub I will never stop at again.More

Our first trip to a pub after lockdown and we were not disappointed! The staff were incredible as the food and drinks were delicious! The outside seating was covered and the owner came and put fur blankets on the seats for us to keep them...warm. We felt totally safe from a covid point of view throughout with all measures adhered to. I would recommend the fish and chips and waffles for dessert. Thank you. We will be back!More

Ate here last night, having happily done so in the past. I don’t know if it’s changed hands or if we just visited on a bad day but... We arrived to notice the car park was empty and maybe should have took that as a...hint! We ordered steak pudding and steak cut chips- with seasonal vegetables.The waitress said they were out of steak cut chips and rice. My husband said he’d have fries. When his meal arrived the only vegetables that arrived were tinned peas. The steak pudding was full of dough and hardly any steak. I ordered barbecued chicken, since they had no rice I accepted new potatoes with seasonal vegetables. Again no vegetables, just a small salad on the side of the plate. So disappointed and will not return any time soon. Wish we’d complained at the time rather than paying full price for such a poor meal.More

Always stopped here on our way to Keswick for some food and a drink. Stopped off last month and the pub was open but they weren't doing food and the place was quite grubby. We won't be rushing back.

Booked a table here 2 weeks ahead of visit as seemed a nice pity of the way pub in these Covid times. Was quite a drive out of Windermere but arrived for booking a bit early. Was informed by the barman on arrival that “I...didn’t need to wear a facemask”. I think that’s my choice. Then informed that I “ should have received a phone call “ about my booking. Apparently no food being served due to a kitchen power failure. Brilliant an hour long drive nearly and nobody could be bothered to ring me to cancel. Only giving this two stars as the barman told me about the Herdwick Inn nearby which was decent and did serve food. Won’t return.More
