Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We decided on a Sunday Carvery for the three of us. I have to say it was very good. Huge Yorkshire pudding, plenty on the plate. Reasonably attentive staff and very pleasant lady served us. Very personable. If I had one gripe, it was the...dessert I ordered. Not really a gripe more a servicing suggestion. I had the Black Forest waffle with ice cream. Disappointed to not see a single cherry in this dessert. The waffle was nice, the crumbed hot brownie was good, but had a berry jam/jelly thrown on it. If you’re going to advertise Black Forest, give me Black Forest. You’d be better doing a black cherry compote with half/whole cherries in it, and maybe a drizzle of chocolate sauce to finish it off. Otherwise, blinding meal.More

Got to say this place is a little gem, we visited the 28th March and the bar tender an asset to you guys. Total multi tasker, filling the bar, sorting the drinks, filling the fire. The bar man recommended the sirloin steak baguette to my...husband and god that steak was delicious, I had the whitebait and steak cut chips as a side blooming gorgeous. Great quality and potion size, take time to visit.More

We’ve been coming for carvery in the Springhead for about 10 years and have never had a bad meal. We had a booking for 20 people today and from start to finish everything went smooth. Vicky always greets us with a smile and nothing is...ever too much, amazing food and perfect service 👌🏼More

Another great outing to the Springhead for Sunday lunch (carvery). Our Canadian guests loved it too. Good selection of meats and especially veg - even if you only have smallish portions of each it's hard not to come away with a heaped plate. Friendly, welcoming...staff and excellent atmosphere. Will definitely be eating here again in the not-too-distant.More

Tried to book on-line on Saturday for the day after only time available was 7pm so we visited the pub on Sunday morning and they managed to fit us in at 5pm and was I glad they did! The service is second to non attention...to detail is very good We had one child meal of sausage and chips with the sausage tasting very good and 3 carvery dinners The choice of 4 meats was good (you are allowed 2) The veg was fresh and all piping hot the roast potatoes were fantastic I would definitely recommend the Sunday lunch and what I think was a very good price You can pay the same at other places and the quality is not there unlike the SpringheadMore

You've got everything you need in this pub and location- walks over the hills, great views and a pretty little village with a spring running through it - with ducks and flowers! The pub is welcoming as are the well trained staff. On the cold...Spring day that I arrived - there were fires burning which was glorious. The service was superb and the food I had - mitso seafood in a garlic and chilli sauce was absolutely divine. I could see other food coming out and the quality was top class - the desserts looked so good. However, I was full and Darcy dog was ready to move on with the walk. Portion size is excellent, price was good and the flavours were so brilliant - looking forward to returning soon!More

Celebrating our Diamond Anniversary last Saturday lunchtime with family. Everything was 1st Class, the food was delicious, the staff and the service were exemplary. Elliott, the manager looked after us all so well, nothing was too much trouble. A Big Thankyou from The Thresher Family.

Although local, this is the first time I have visited the Springhead for a long time. I have heard rave reviews from friends and I have to say, we were not disappointed when we had a family celebration there at the weekend! From start to...finish the service was exceptional, the food tasty and plentiful and the ambience was spot on. Nothing was too much trouble and although attentive, the staff were not intrusive in any way. A big thank you to Elliot and the team on Saturday afternoon. You made a special family celebration all the more special.More

Beautiful location, pub, restaurant is cosy and warm, friendly and very welcoming. The food is delicious and Elliot takes pride in ensuring they deliver the very best food and service with every visit and if anything is not quite as you expected he will put...it right. We have had quite a few things on the menu but the macaroni cheese toastie is a game changer, the burger deserves an award and the steak pie has so much meat you will never go anywhere else. Enjoy your meal and if you dont, just tell them before you eat it all and you wont leave hungry or disappointed.More

We were lucky enough to find out about the Springhead pub, while looking for recommendations for places to eat near Weymouth. The Springhead pub is just a few minutes drive from 2 Haven holiday parks and close to Bowleaze cove end of Weymouth. A really...beautiful setting opposite a river with ducks and willow trees. A really idyllic setting. A real warm friendly welcome awaits you by the lovely Kathy. She's the friend you haven't met yet. A great selection of drinks and on a Friday a choice of 2 food menus. Fish Friday specials or normal menu. For the pub setting, decor and choice of fresh local produce we expected the prices to be much higher. No wonder you need to book to get a table here. Highly recommended. The food portions were generous and very well cooked by a great chef. A real gem with lovely staff who give proper service, good honest home cooked food. Reasonably priced. Look forward to returning sometime soon.More

We visit the Springhead every couple of weeks, and the welcome is always friendly and the food is always very good - especially the pies according to my husband! (We also had a carvery a few weeks ago, when we were squeezed in at short...notice due to our other booking falling through. Unfortunately, we had to eat our meal in the function room which didn't suit everyone, but the food was still as good as usual).More

Bit of a disappointment, haven't been there in 10 years (apart from 2 funerals wakes ) despite living in the village, we went with the car club and ate in the function room at the back, we had to order our drinks from the bar...and they were delivered to the function room, we had to go to the carvery, get our food and walk outside with it to the function room with no cover to keep the food warm. 3 couples saw that we had to bring food (@ £15.95 ) ourselves and left without eating. The wooden tables were laid out without table mats or tablecloths, the cutlery was left on another table on a help yourself basis, all in all, a bit like Butlins /Pontins in the 60,s. I realized why we hadn't been in there for 10 years then, we ate in The Bridge Inn last week, far better value.More
