Very nice restaurant, friendly staff. Food was amazing, very large portions - spoilt for choice. Shared a dessert as the Sunday Roast was so filling.

My husband and I are regular visitors to the Dog in a Castle but haven't yet ventured for breakfast - Today was the day. The menu was fairly simple but had plenty of options for all taste Buds and eaters. The ordered breakfast also includes...a selection of Cereals, crumpets and toast with 5/6 different condiments. It also includes tea, coffee (instant & filter), 4 different juices, milk and water. At £11 each we both opted for the pancakes - topped with caramelised banana, Crispy bacon & a maple butter which were delicious 😋 - We struggled to eat the full portion but managed the plate 😀 Great value for money, great service - we look forward to returning soonMore
The restaurant is run by very friendly staff. We felt very welcomed. Even though the restaurant was very busy, the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. I can recommend the roast dinners. We wanted an Eton mess for dessert, but this was unavailable....I was impressed by the outstanding customer service offered by the chef who came to our table to offer us an amaretti biscuit soaked in liqueur, when cream and strawberries. This 'can do' attitude of the chef left a positive impression on us both. The portion sizes are generous, you definitely won't leave hungry. The restaurant is child and dog friendly. This was our first visit. I'm positive it won't be the last.More
I went with my family and the service there was incredible it was really comfortable. Staff super friendly Even got upgraded to a room with hot tub! Food was outstanding
We loved the Dog and Castle , five of us went for an evening meal and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We were really looked after by Alison and John, they are really proud of their restaurant and rightly so, some amazing food...and a great atmosphere, with special after diner shots thrown in! We had a perfect evening and we shall definitely return. 😊More
This recent find for us had everything we always look for but rarely come across…….great quality food, all very fresh and expertly cooked. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, a bit of a drive to get there but well worth it. Thanks John and...team, well done!More
Horrendous!! We unfortunately won’t be returning! Not greeted by any staff whilst waiting to be seated. Only ordered a main meal and we waited over an hour, once it did arrive the food could’ve been lovely but was cold. The side dishes ordered didn’t arrive....Plates cleared in dribs and drabs. The waitress keep saying how short staffed they were, if your that short staff you should’ve turned us away! No bill print out, all hand written (which is fine) but asked to check the bill rather than just paying the amount on the card machine and we had been over charged.More
Lovely stay at The Dog and Castle. The room was great, the evening meal and the huge breakfast was one of the best we have had this year. The welcome and the service was top class. It really felt as though we were being waited...on in our own home. Charming atmosphere in the pub too in that everyone seemed happy to be there especially the staffMore
We went for Sunday lunch yesterday and it was so good! We were warmly greeted by Alison who showed us to our table and was attentive throughout. The roast beef melted in my mouth, and the roast gammon is the best I've tasted! The roast potatoes...and yorkshires along with a fantastic selection of perfectly cooked veg was, to die for and the Cheesecake for dessert was delicious too! John and Della's new 'Dog' has the same essence of the old 'Dog' and we cant wait to return. I can't recommend this place highly enough.More
Absolutely amazing food, never had a bad meal here or had to complain about a single thing, the Sunday roasts really are out of this world!!! I’ve tried most of the food here, lovely atmosphere and a top bloke running the pub!!!
well i went on a reccomendation and i thought i was going to a great restaurant the food was great but i did not like the fact that the chefs were off there faces may they should sell pepsi i think there is more than...enough cokeMore
The kids loved the swimming pool and hot tub,the breakfast and dinners were amazing, all staff were really friendly and helpful. Rooms were spotless with plenty of tea, coffee and chocolate and fluffy towels. Nice relaxed family atmosphere. We will be back
Star of the show is the talented chef..that's as far as it goes I'm afraid. Stayed here overnight, upgraded to hot tub (extra £20..even though on booking.com it's an extra tenner) . It's like they only want concentrate on the food . We took our...small well behaved dog with us but my partner had to get poo bags and get all the mess up in the beer garden that had been left by other dogs. Woke up this morning with flea bites all over my back hmm . It's a pity because this place could be so much better with a little hard work. We were there most of the day and I never saw anyone working on the accomodations. I'm aware the owners have only been there few months but that's no excuse for bad hygiene. Full marks for the chef though, fantastic mealMore
The food is exceptional, possibly the best Sunday roast I’ve ever eaten. The new land lords have put so much work in to make it really fantastic destination. It’s gone from a quiet pub to a thriving pub / hotel / restaurant. I would highly...recommend!More
Well we’ll we’ll, 10/10 is not enough to tell you how AMAZING the Sunday roast is. Such generous portions, extraordinary flavours. Wagu beef was perfect, the trimmings were to die for. We cannot rate this place highly enough. I will say this “the best Sunday...roast we ever had” Do yourself a favour, get down to try this food.More
