Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Spot on brunch!! It was absolutely rammed here and a 45 min wait, which they advised us on before ordering! But it was worth it, eggs were done perfectly and service was great too, dogs are welcome as well, only because one was having his...breakfast under the table, even with a cup of tea on a saucer 🤣 plenty of room for wheelchairs and pushchairs...Will be going back again!!More

After seeing the pasta advertised for valentines day I ordered a pack of the slow cooked beef ravioli, when collecting I bought most of the rest of the ingredients for dinner too all from the farm shop! We had potatoes, onions, stilton sauce, peppercorn sauce,...the tomato-y pasta sauce that came with the pasta. It was all reasonable and was so yummy!! The ladies serving were all friendly and were asking about my meal plans. Thank youMore

Whilst the breakfast was nicely cooked, I feel that it was a little expensive for 1 rasher of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 slice of black pudding egg beans and half a tomato. Whilst I was waiting for my breakfast I had time to quietly observe...all around me, there were 2 young girls behind the servery that were constantly touching their hair, one coughed into her hand and neither of them washed their hands in the entire time I was there. I will not be returning.More

Came here today for the first time for afternoon tea, based on other reviews. Absolutely lovely experience in the conservatory area. Food was tasty and plentiful, lots of cups of tea from the large teapot, and really friendly, attentive young staff. Highly recommend!

Four of us booked for Afternoon Tea and were delighted with our experience, the food was good and varied, the usual sandwiches, scones, cakes but with added lemon mousse - so light. The waitress couldn't have been friendlier and nothing was too much trouble, her...knowledge of the alpaca was interesting too!More

Absolutely perfect day here today. Five mums, five 4 year olds and two babies. We plonked ourselves out of the way and had a lovely time. The food was brought out quickly, huge portions and very tasty. The kids had a lovely time in the...play garden and didn’t want to leave! We stayed until closing. We also tidied up after ourselves as anyone with kids should do. Will definitely return and have already told friends.More

We are local and regulars at Hardy's and after much thought, feel we must voice our disappointment at today's incident. We arrived for a quick coffee and a bit of lunch as usual. The cafe was very busy, but the coffee arrived quickly via the...usual lovely, friendly staff. It was so busy they had run out of sausages (which was for our dog), but, no worries, she shared my bacon sandwich, which we both enjoyed very much. Suddenly, a middle aged woman, came up to us and said the dog should be on the floor, not on the plastic sofa. OK, fair enough. So I put my coat on the sofa, underneath my dog, but, no, this was not good enough, the dog had to be on the floor. Now, to a lot of people this is nothing to gripe about, it was just the manner in which it was done. I don't know who the woman was, she wasn't wearing any sort of "uniform", but her manner was very abrupt. Very disappointed, this is a lovely place.More

We'd booked a table for breakfast on our way up the A1 since it was over of the only places that was open and dog friendly, but what a mistake. I'm not sure if there was something up on this particular morning, but the middle...aged lady in the cafe didn't manage a smile the whole time, and barely looked us in the eye when we ordered. It made us feel very unwelcome. "What's the table number? I can't take your order without a table number" (we were one of two groups there and our table was literally next to her) We ordered the corner breakfast and without so much as an acknowledgement, any eye contact, or a fully formed question, she barked "fried egg?" at us. And then when we asked for my daughter's poached egg and avocado on toast to come without the egg and just with the avocado and tomato, she barked "I'll have to charge you the full amount, and we haven't got tomatoes anyway" Why is this? Just reduce it! It can't be that difficult! We also asked if they had yoghurt, and that was a firm no. Not "no, sorry we don't", like you would expect from anyone with any level of customer service training. How about inviting us to buy one in the farm shop and bring it in? There's no level of trying to please us or put us at ease at all. The avocado on toast arrived and was brown and grainy. So overripe, and like nothing we've seen before Freddie having ordered it at countless places, but the chef came out and patronising told us that this is what happens to avocadoes. We know this, but I wouldn't expect to be served it. It was replaced however. The young blonde girl was very friendly. The lady at the till at the shop displayed a similar distain when we bought something too. I sincerely hope this was a one off and everyone was just having a bad day. I can't think of another reason why staff at a charming independent establishment like this would act this way.More

Hardys staff always go far beyond what is needed and today even though this was a new venture they worked so hard to make it enjoyable for us all.
