We were out celebrating my Grandfathers birthday and we all had a wonderful time. The food was fantastic but what we were all really pleased about was our waiter. He was fantastic and an absoute pleasure, I feel terrible as i dont remember his name...but he was tall and wore glasses. We will be coming back very soon. P.s the cocktails were lovely too and the barman was bery knowledgeableMore

Another fantastic experience at Le Bouchon! We had the dine & stay package for New Years Eve which included a glass of champagne, 7 course dinner, overnight stay & breakfast and it didn’t disappoint. Excellent service from all of the staff who were very attentive....The food was just amazing, innovative and well presented. We went for the wine pairing which worked fantastically well with each course too. Thank you to all of the staff for not letting your standards slip in such tough times where many restaurants had to close due to covid & staffing issues!More

We’ve been here twice in the last 2 months. We thought we had reviewed the first time but cannot find the dialogue. So here is a combo review, based on 2 visits. This is not a cheap night out, but that isn’t a complaint as...we accept that you pay for quality and this is definitely a quality place. We have visited other upper end restaurants in the local area and Le Bouchon beats them simply on the ambience of the place. Warm, beautifully decorated and so inviting. Starched white tablecloths and REAL napkins set Le Bouchon apart. Service was friendly and efficient, despite there being a couple of large parties in on our second visit. Toilets were clean and well lit. Very nice wine list with a range of choices at different price levels. Nice cocktails and approaching Christmas, cocktails with a winter twist. You my relax in the bar while studying the menu. Over two visits we sampled a lot. Scallops in pea risotto - super. Beautifully presented local oysters ( disappointingly off menu in December) Starter of duck breast cooked exactly as it should be, rose. Steaks of high quality cooked exactly as requested. Simple but delicious sauté spinach with garlic. Excellent triple cooked chunky chips. Smoked trout, perfect. Sole on the bone…but teased off to make dissection easy. Christmas pudding, delicious. Presentation was excellent throughout. We simply cannot fault Le Bouchon (except for cancelling oysters at Christmas) and will be returning soon for another excellent night out.More

Saturday Lunch for the four of us. Couldn’t fault it in any way. Great surroundings, attentive but not intrusive staff, and superb food - best fillet steak we have had! All in all a great meal! Highly recommended for that special occasion. Will be back...for sure!👍👏More

This is not a good place to come if in a large party with pre ordered food. Over a 45 min wait for starter. Would have been nice if at least a coup[e of baskets of bread on the table whilst waiting. Turkey dinner small,...only one tiny pig in blanket and a tiny flat inch wide piece of stuffing. The three very small roast potatoes tasted like pre cooked and then re heated up - not nice. Turkey pre sliced and not straight from the bird. Poor vegetable selection as only sprouts and mashed swede. Felt more like school dinners. cherry cheescake nice but ice cream with it melted. Would not rush back.More

Came for the 6 course tasting menu and wine pairing and couldn’t fault it. Food was excellent and so was the service, the waiter was very knowledgeable and introduced each wine with information as to why it had been paired with each dish. Will definitely...come back. Thank you for a perfect evening.More

Was great to be physically back at Le Bouchon. I had enjoyed the takeaway meals during lockdown, but had so missed being here. We started with gin cocktails followed by pate and scallops to start with steak and pork for our mains. My husband was...full, but I forced myself to have the cheese course. As always the food was delightful and the service was attentive.More

A family get together and birthday celebration while visiting Essex and friends recommended Le Bouchon at Heybridge. The building has been refurbished as a boutique hotel and while I can't comment on the rooms, the public areas and restaurant exude comfort & class. The menu...is a nice blend of French and British cuisine with something to suit most tastes, a particularly good fish & seafood selection (including local oysters) and a decent wine list. We were taken care of very well from arrival to the end of an enjoyable evening and the waiting staff showed great patience with our group - as we probably seemed more interested in chatting than looking at menus & wine lists! One or two dishes (fig starter and chicken main course) weren't quite up to the rest but overall a 5* dining experience.More
