Visiting Canberra on a Friday morning and needing breakfast we assumed there'd be plenty of options in the city. We walked and walked, maybe we walked in the wrong places, but there were no coffee aromas or even the telltale smell of bacon anywhere in Garema Place or the adjoining plazas. Weak from hunger and desperate for caffeine we stumbled... More

Best place in Canberra for a roast meat roll with gravy. But get there by 1pm or you'll likely miss out. Coffee is nice too.

Arrived at 11.00am. Not busy. I was the only one in "line". Counted 5 staff across the counter doing stuff. Owner not there. No acknowledgement from anyone. Hellooooooo!!! (I thought). Waited 2-3 minutes. Finally, asked " yes?", with no smile. Ordered roast pork roll with gravy and onions. Pork tough. Crackling burnt. Onions still crunchy, undercooked. $10.50 way too much.... Probably the best beet and goats cheese salad I've ever had was from here not off the menu. Another time they ran out of loaded potatoes so they made me one up from the roast root vegetables - sooooooo good. Chilli con carne was a revelation. The main guy is always so accommodating and 'gets' food. City lunch favourite.

This cafe has lovely friendly staff and decent coffee. A nice quiet stop whilst waiting for some watch repairs. A great cafe to get away from the hustle and bustle of civic.

After all the good reviews we thought we would try it for lunch. The salad/sandwich bar looked really nice and the servings were more than ample with super friendly staff so we decided on poached eggs with mushrooms and bacon also caramelised rocket with poached eggs and bacon. Well the eggs were hard, the bacon over cooked, rocket floating in... More
