Five of us came here for dinner midweek and we all were so pleased that we visited. Though some of the dishes that we wanted to order were unavailable, it really didn't matter too much. Our waitress, who was charming, helpful and welcoming, suggested that we leave it to her to decide what we ate and we agreed after giving... More

This place never fails, been eating here for 2 decades. Basic good quality food cooked to perfection. Char grilled polo polo and balkan salad, seafood and excellent eastern european home cooked food. Reasonably priced. Staff are pleasant however busy. Sydneysiders know this place and return time and time again.

We had dinner with another couple and ordered a couple of meat/seafood platters. Tasted great with a wide variety of items on each. Plenty of food. Service was OK but not fantastic. Friendly but just not right on the spot. A bit of a tight squeeze

Was introduced to this place by a relative. I wouldn't have thought twice about coming here if not for the introduction, due to its very normal shop front. But after the first time, it was so good that I had to come back for one more meal before I flew off from Sydney. On both occasions, I went for an... More

After reading recent reviews about the poor service, I was apprehensive even though my first experience dining there in Feb this year was very good. The restaurant was quite full but the manager was the only one serving. most of the customers look like regulars. As anticipated, we had little attention but relied on googling searches for assistance to figure... More

Used to eat here at least once a fortnight and the food and service was great. Went for dinner last night and the service was appalling and food average. Had the manager throw menu's on the table and say 'I am dealing with issues'.Was asked when paying the bill if I was leaving a tip....

I ordered an ink fish seafood risotto which was very disappointing as there was not much seafood and the meal was so peppery that one couldn't taste much after a few bites. Afterwards my husband told the staff and one of them said it was the nature of the dish. The service was not very welcoming or friendly.

Have not been to this restaurant in many years, my memory was of great food and it had a real Croatian feel about the place. Service was terrible and rushed, the waitress on the night can be best described as being rough around the edges. Definitely not a Croatian feel... Food is overpriced and very average...

Balkin has been going it seems forever and the food remains as good as ever. Continental is the genre here and specialising in seafood-mostly on open grill.

Neighbourhood Profile
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
