As a local, nipped out early on Sunday for a quick breakfast. The location is fantastic with views all the way to the Humber.
We didn’t book since the website does say that they take walk ins & we thought just after 9am on a Sunday would be fairly quiet. There were plenty of empty, although reserved tables, but it was busy. The hostess was not at all welcoming when we admitted to not booking in advance & it felt that we were begrudgingly given a table, but only for an hour.
That being said the counter and table staff were friendly and professional.
The food was ok, my poached eggs were sadly over cooked but my husband enjoyed his breakfast bun. I’m afraid to say that given the lack of welcome we won’t be rushing back.

We are sorry that your experience at Landmark Café did not live up to your expectations. Contrary to what you thought, our busiest times are on a Saturday and Sunday morning, and our regular customers know to book to avoid disappointment. To put that into context, Landmark opened its doors to 250 customers during Sunday. The table you sat at , was reserved and it would be inappropriate to not have that table ready for customers who had booked at an allotted time.
We will take all your comments into consideration as we are continuously working to improve customer experience and food quality.

Tried to go last week and couldn’t get a table at lunchtime as I hadn’t booked and they were full so booked a table for this week and it didn’t disappoint. Quite possibly the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. Nice thin and crispy batter, proper hand made chips (not frozen) and lovely mushy peas all delivered by a very nice and helpful young lady. Special mention to the lady on the till who was friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. You’ll have to go a long way to find a better view and lovely stylish surroundings at these prices - an impressive addition to the areas eateries and one that I’ll be visiting on a regular basis- highly recommended.

Thank you Mark for your wonderful comments and 5* review. We are thrilled you enjoyed your fish and chips, they have become very popular which is why we made the decision to make them a permanent fixture to the light lunch menu. I'm unsure who was on the till on the day of your visit but I will pass on your compliments to the entire Landmark team. Thank you again and hope to see you soon.

Beautiful cafe we visited on a endoscopy couldn’t take the scenery in but inside the the atmosphere was lovely and warm. Staff were very friendly and attentative. The food was lovely but expensive for what you get. The dirty fries at 6.50 which were just macdonalds fries with a few spring onions a couple of bits of ham and some sauce was pricey. The brioche bun was so small on the beef brisket burger. The baileys bread and butter pudding was disappointing as I couldn’t taste baileys and it was so mushy you couldn’t tell it was a croissant. We was asked if we wanted custard, cream or ice cream with it but on receiving the bill we was charged £1.50 extra for cream and £1.50 for the custard to go in my partners sponge pudding which was a shock to say the least.
Shame as was a lovely drive out in great clean friendly surroundings

Totally disappointed with this place. They never answer the phone to get booked in, certain items on the menu are over priced. The breakfast is better at weatherspoons and cheaper.
They rush to get you out also, so you feel pressured to eat and go.
They have plenty of staff but yet nobody can answer the phone!! Phone was ringing a lot and nobody was answering while we was there!
Would I go back...probably not.

We were disappointment to receive your review. We know you had already raised the issue online ahead of visiting us about answering the telephone and we apologise your experience did not meet your expectations as that is not our intention. We take your comments onboard, and we will use them in a possible way. A new online booking system will be in place shortly, which should remove this problem for customers to book tables for a specific period of time to avoid such confusion.

Arrived slightly early for our booking which seemed an issue on arrival and to “bang us on table 4” by the young girl on the desk on entering.
Ordered medium rare steak arrived well done, portion sizes are tiny and not value for money at all.
However the view from this place made up the experience. Perfect for a scenic view

We are sorry to hear your visit did not live up to your expectations, this is not what we aim for at Landmark. With regards to the steak being over cooked, if you had raised this with us at the time, we would have been able to rectify this for you quickly. We really appreciate the chance to make things right for the customer before they leave. With regards to portion sizes are tiny, and not value for money, we take you comments on board, but disagree.

First visit, wouldn’t want to back!!
Went for a 9am breakfast, restaurant not overly busy, food came out cold, no member of staff asking if everything was ok. The music was extremely loud, both of us have come out with a headache,as we was sat beneath a speaker.
Poached eggs were uncooked and water inside , I presume it was water. Then when a member of staff came to remove the plates, just asked if we had finished with them as food left on there and not if everything was ok with the breakfast.
Even the pancakes looked shop bought, limited chocolate sauce and strawberries and even the pancakes was cold

Went to the cafe couple of days ago for lunch along with my daughter, ordered cheesy baked beans jacket potato and fiery loaded fries. My daughter tucked into her jacket potato and chewed onto which something tasty absolutely yuck and it seemed like big lump of mud a size of cherry tomato!! We promptly reported it to the staff and the manager was brought in. Yes, we were offered an apology and refund as we should have. But there was no extra mile of customer service there. Just did what they should have been doing nothing more than protocol and robotic..absolutely basic and matter of fact.
While I understand occasionally things can go wrong, good customer service is what keeps the reputation. Our experience at the cafe did not make us feel like they value the customers

Hi Deepa, we have received your review on another review platform (but i have included our response below). We have asked if you would contact us as the owner and kitchen are mortified to hear of your experience and the owner would like to discuss this with you.
Hi Deepa, firstly, we want to apologise profusely for your experience at Landmark Café. The whole team, especially the owner and kitchen, are absolutely mortified about this. We have spoken to entire team and looked back at the CCTV. After our team apologised, offered a free replacement meal, more drinks, and a refund, were sorry to hear that you felt this was not dealt with in the way you would have prefered. Unfortunately (though not acceptable), mistakes can happen, and this is a risk with using natural fresh ingredients grown from the ground, we are now taking alternative procedures to ensure this does not happen again moving forward.
The owner is aware of your visit and complaint, and would like to speak to you personally, if possible, to discuss the matter further with you. If this is ok please could you send your contact details to us at info@landmarkcafeandrestaurant.co.uk to enable us to reach out to you.
We have now put a procedure in place that all complaints and refunds must be authorised through the office to ensure we can understand the complaint, how the customer feels and how this should be dealt with sufficiently to avoid any customers leaving the way you felt.
We hope to hear from you soon – Thank you.

I was fortunate enough to discover this hidden gem on a recent visit to the area. We stopped for breakfast and we’re very impressed! From first impressions in the car park, the beautifully presented entrance, to the staff in matching uniforms and aprons.
The food and service were first class, the raised composite deck is a great vantage point to admire the view and would be a nice place to sit in the sunshine.
Toilets were scrupulously clean and equally as stylish.
Being both caravanners and motorcyclists ( this visit was in the car ) we were a little disappointed to hear that they were closing their small caravan site that very day, apparently to provide an overflow car park as they were going to be opening as a restaurant a few days a week, you can’t hold back progress and the need to make money I suppose! We will however make it a trip out on the motorbike from our home in Tyne and Wear.
Well done to all, from the owners right down to the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback after visiting us at Landmark Café. We are delighted to hear that you were impressed with the food, staff, location and interior of the café. This is exactly the feedback we hope to receive from our customers. I am sorry you felt disappointed with the news of our caravan site closing. Unfortunately, after we were forced to close for so long during lockdown we were faced with lots of issues upon reopening the facilities etc. We are pleased you plan to visit us again and look forward to seeing you, we will be sure to pass your comments on to the entire Café team.

'Morning coffee' for three - 4 August 2023
So many elements here which promise a great experience. The location with its views is a winner. The building is large, light and airy. The interior floor level is furnished with modern but softer materials comfortable enough for drinking and eating in the day and for the developing evening menus.
Ours was a limited sampling of what is on offer. Coffee was welcome with its decent flavour unlike many other over-roasted blends supplied elsewhere.
Baked items are less successful. My 'Lemon and Blueberry' cake was a barrage of sweetness. Sugar upon sugar upon glucose syrup. A poor synthetic effort.
Some will enjoy such fare and it might be worth investigating savoury items instead.
Importantly, whatever choices guests make it seems you will be looked after by efficient, attentive and friendly servers.
Not quite the experience which has delighted others but we have not given up the idea of a further booking.

HI Geoff, thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. As i have already replied to you directly via email from your review on another site it would be only fair to reply to this one.
As you stated in your previous review, cake is a personal taste, however, we do provide a selection of cakes and the Lemon & Blueberry cake you had chosen is actually our Vegan option. Being a vegan option, this does contain alternative ingredients to our other cakes which is why you may have found the ingredients to be "a poor synthetic option" or a "ghastly concoction” as stated on your previous feedback. We try to cater to all dietary requirements whether that be allergens, vegan or gluten free, to enable us to offer something for everyone which sometimes does taste different to regular ingredients but allows us to welcome more customers by cater for everyone. With that in mind we do hope you will visit us again and maybe try our breakfast or lunch menu or even some of our savoury options. We are pleased you were well looked after and found our team efficient, friendly, and attentive and look forward to seeing you in the future. Thank you gain for taking the time to leave us some feedback.

First through the door on opening night! We were not disappointed, welcomed in by smiling staff the atmosphere and lighting was gorgeous with lovely music playing in the background.
The drinks selection leaves nothing to be desired with something for everyone and when it came to the food it was hard to choose with everything on the menu sounding so delicious.
Belly Pork & King prawns for starters, extremely well presented and tasted as good as it looked.
Smoked Haddock, Ribeye Steak and Landmark Burger for mains. Portion sizes are fantastic my sister's steak was cooked perfectly with a side of blue cheese sauce which was fantastic. I possibly over did it with the Burger after having belly pork for starter but what I managed to eat was delicious and the smoked fish melted in the mouth!
Desserts were beautiful, Caramel tart, lemon meringue cheesecake, vanilla and strawberry ice cream great way to finish the meal and we left well and truly full!
A great restaurant, lovely staff, fabulous food and the perfect setting for all occasions. Will definitely be returning may even become a regular!

When walking through the door, we were welcomed immediately by a sea of happy, smiling staff, more than willing to lead us to our table for dinner. This restaurant is spacious and had it been daytime, we would have seen the panoramic vistas that are a big feature of the Landmark. I selected a Portuguese White wine, reasonably priced and table water. There was a large group enjoying a birthday celebration and several tables of diners. The menu was varied with a good selection of starters and main courses. We selected onion bhaji’s and classic prawn cocktail followed by the steak and ale pie, served with peas, (mushy or garden) hand-cut chips, and rich, brown gravy.
My partner had the sirloin steak, cooked to medium rare, accompanied by tomato and skinny fries. Additional sauces are available at extra charge.
We had been told that the table was ours from 7:30pm - 9:30pm, this was because the restaurant closes at 10pm. It is also closed on a Thursday but only during the month of January. I can recommend the Landmark Restaurant, we certainly were not disappointed. We intend returning very soon during daylight hours so we can take advantage of not only the restaurant, but to see the view.

My daughter and I came for breakfast the location and premises are beautiful and staff are friendly and efficient however the food was mediocre at best.
Both my daughter and I ordered the full English which was presented well but the sausages were so dry we couldn’t eat them and the mushrooms were black so had obviously been pre cooked and re heated. The breakfast was on par with a Wetherspoons breakfast and had I paid Wetherspoons prices I would not be writing this review however at £35 for two full English breakfasts (that we were only able to half eat) an orange juice and a latte I certainly do not feel like the price reflects the quality of food we were served.
A really disappointing experience

Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback from your recent visit to Landmark, we are really sorry to hear your visit did not live up to your expectations, and i will ensure your comments are raised with the kitchen. We feel that £10.00 for a cooked breakfast is a very fair price, all our produce from meat, diary, vegetables and eggs are sourced locally from local suppliers to support the community, therefore we can only keep our prices so low as we still incur price increases from them. Nevertheless, we want all our customers to enjoy their food, and had this been bought to our attention at the time we could have offered replacement meals even of a different choice at no extra cost to try to turn your experience into a positive one. Unfortunately we was not given that opportunity. Hospitality is a very trying world at the moment with lots of establishments closing their doors due to the continuous increase in prices, and we rely on our reviews to help our business grow, however, in the world we live in now, we don't always get chance to rectify things before people head to a review site where we find out about these things for the first time. Despite your disappointment, we thank you for your visit.

We checking on line if any tables were available and none were but as we were passing en-route to another location decided to call in on spec anyway.
We were lucky to be able to get a table after a five minute wait!
From entering the whole experience was excellent. The girl on reception was extremely professional and polite and frankly couldn’t do enough to help guests.
When shown to our table we were informed of the ordering process and after selecting our meals were able to enjoy the bustling yet relatively private ambiance.
With extensive views over the North Lincolnshire countryside from our cosy table we agreed that the balcony in summer would be an excellent choice. It was November so our current spot was perfect!
I had a full English breakfast which was excellent in every way. Well cooked, a decent amount and presented well on the plate.
My partner had the shakshuka which also was delicious - this was presented really well.
Coffee was also excellent too.
Overall very pleasant experience and will be on my radar for future brunch and possibly evening meals too.

I booked a table and we met up with two friends who we had not seen for quite a while.
Drinks and breakfasts ordered, I did specifically asked for the drinks to be hot.
Warm drinks arrived, so I asked for the drinks to be changed.
Breakfasts were okay but poached eggs were not very runny.
We were enjoying catching up so
a while later we ordered 4 more drinks. I again mentioned them being hot and this time and they arrived hot.
5 minutes after the drinks arrived, a waitress came and announced "Just to let you know, that you only have 10 minutes left at your table"
Quite honestly that's not acceptable. There is obviously a time limit on tables which we knew nothing about! There were other tables available, so they were not short of table's and they had just served us 4 hot drinks.
It was a much more enjoyable experience when we visited in December, not sure we will return.

Hi Patricia, were sorry to read of your disappointment, we welcome all feedback and hope in times like these we can be given the opportunity to rectify anything before customers leave to avoid negative reviews being left without us knowing about any issues. I would like to look into this straight away so if possible please could you send me an email with the details of your booking (name of booking, date and time - or booking reference if this is easier). We make a huge effort to try to rectify negative experiences but as you can imagine it makes it very difficult after someone has vacated the premises and we have to communicate through trip advisor. Often we do not hear back from people with the requested information which means we are unable to investigate. We hope to hear from you so we can look into your feedback.

Booked this restaurant to celebrate the birthday of two of the five guests. There were mixed reviews prior to attending- however when we walked in the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised, we were wowed by the stunning views of the countryside. The table layout gave privacy without feeling to out of the way.
We ordered Tempura battered king prawns, onion bhajis and wild mushrooms, for mains Smoked haddock, chicken supreme and honey glazed duck breast, desserts Vanilla creme brulee, lemon meringue cheesecake and salted caramel tart.
Well what can we say! it was amazing from start to finish the meals were hot, presented well and very tasty, we did feel the creme brulee was slightly under set but the flavour was all there.
The staff are very welcoming and attentive and really did look after us.
This restaurant has a fabulous atmosphere and we will definitely be going again and we shall be spreading the word.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful, detailed review. We would like to first of all thank you for booking and visiting us despite reading some mixed reviews ahead of your reservation. The world of reviews can be very difficult to manage, and we have learnt since opening our doors in October 2022 that we cannot unfortunately please everyone.
We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your meal, the service, location, and atmosphere for double birthday celebrations. I will personally ensure that your feedback is shared with the whole Café and Restaurant team.
Thank you for recommending us and we look forward to your return.
