First of all it was interesting to get in. You need to use the stairs on the east side of the main entrance because the adjacent Hotel is used for quarantine. Staff were very helpful when I phoned to navigate in. The setting is pleasant enough. The food and service were great. The hilights were the oysters, steak and Murray Cod and the 'tiramasu' desert. The little scallop dish was really phoned. nice. Everything else was at least good and I am pretty fussy. The dishes were carefully balanced and thought out. It is more modern than traditional but not way out there. The classic premium traditionals were not on the menu or sold out. So beef tatake, torro tuna belly and uni sea urchin were not available. So for some, at a premium Japanese restaurant I can imagine the disappointment but the stuff they did have was exceptional and fitted with Japanese food style. We ordered ramen noodles which we advised staff were too salty. When they were remade the flavour was really special (extra nice). Staff went out of way to apologise and handled it very well.

We went to the lunchtime, so only Bento set. But we loved it A choice of a main meal with lightly battered whiting, seasonal vegetables tempura, rice, Japanese pickles, fruits, and miso soup. I chose Unagi and my husband chose Salmon sashimi with Ikura. Unagi is so tasty and melting in the mouth. And Salmon sashimi and Ikura were so fresh and delicious. Many of our favorite Japanese food was in the beautiful lunch box and we enjoyed it very much. Lunch is a very casual and very reasonable price. The dinner menu looks much more varied and gorgeous, so we want to try next time. There is a beautiful traditional Japanese style seating area with the tatami mat and the shoji screen. And the entrance is a very nice Japanese set up, too.

I discovered this restaurant through a search for Japanese in the CBD, was amazed to not have heard of it before and it well deserves the recognition. Was a post-work Friday night catch up with a friend and the booking was easily handled online within the day. Lovely quiet and intimate atmosphere on walking in and the ‘authentic Japanese’ floor seating area looked enticing. Would definitely love to try it but needs an advance booking. The menu was sumptuous with a Japanese fusion approach to some of the heavier meat dishes. Entrees were the sushi and tempura platters, which were well presented, fresh and tasty, followed by the panko crumbed pork.... which was distinct from its western equivalent by the beautiful preserved sides of ginger and other condiments. Wine list looked impressive but we relegated ourselves to enjoying a Japanese beer on tap... wine next time. Service was excellent, can I sat attentive yet delicate... Will definitely be back, hopefully for the complete experience!

My husband and I have eaten here on numerous occasions and had excellent food and service. But unfortunately this time it didn’t live up to their usual standards. We ordered the 8 course banquet matching with a flight of wines. After waiting 45 mins after ordering we hadn’t received a drink or any food. When the food did appear they didn’t bring the drinks to match the dish at the same time. The food was nice but not as good as it has been and the flight of wines isn’t a flight of wines it’s more a flight of sake with each dish and at $70 per person for the drinks wasn’t good value. We learnt the original chef is in Japan and is unable to return due to covid. However, once Michelle the manager became involved with serving us she was very understanding. As this was a special occasion spending $400 for 2 people we wanted it to meet its standards as before but unfortunately it didn’t.

After mixed reviews about this restaurant, we were willing to give it a shot recently. First impressions, the venue is relaxing and well suited to this style of food, especially the area at the back where the decore is more traditional of Japan. Service was also friendly and attentive. We decided on a section of entrees, as we wanted to try a variety of things. Food was pleasantly quick to come out, mind you, we were booked for the time the restaurant opens so only a handful of other tables were occupied. The sashimi was fresh and good quality, and the oysters were also very tasty. It's hard to get tempura veggies wrong, and we also tried the tiger prawn/calamari combo. Overall, there was no dish that lets us down, and we came away feeling we'd had more than enough food. However, as others have indicated already the prices are on the higher end for this style of food. Add a bottle of wine to these 4 entrees and there wasn't much change out of $200 for 2 people. Any regrets? Not really, but I can say we've had the same quality elsewhere for a lot cheaper.

We eat out a fair bit (especially Japanese or Asian fusion) and aren’t fussy, but Ginza was incredibly disappointing. We were celebrating a special milestone and so we’d planned to go for the eight course menu option to celebrate. Which exact meals would be offered in the eight options weren’t listed anywhere, and when we asked the (otherwise polite) waitress didn’t know any of the dishes—-sashimi and “dumplings” were mentioned (we decided just to go ahead, which was maybe our mistake) but neither of these arrived. The food itself was incredibly underwhelming. Flavourless and tiny portions. One of the eight courses was simply a scoop of sorbet, which we both agreed was pretty surprising and further disappointing. We left quite hungry. The sake was nice, and service was quietly polite, but you can get nice sake and good service at most of Adelaide’s Japanese restaurants. For $128 each for the eight courses, we really truly wish we’d dined elsewhere.

We were looking forward to this, but unfortunately came away with a less than satisfactory impression. The food was ok but what really let the side down was the lack lustre service. We had to remind staff no less than three times for the lack of drinks we ordered at the beginning of our experience. They finally arrived at the near completion of our dinner. Our orders were taken, only for staff to return to the table to let us know what we had ordered wasn’t available. This included water, wine and food that were listed on the menu. During our visit one table’s entire order had not arrived, the disgruntled guests complained after waiting for over 2 hours and were basically told to leave. Management did nothing to rectify the problem and essentially blamed the customer for being upset. Sorry but that kind of attitude instilled zero confidence in our repeat business. $250 for a dinner for two with no bottled water available, no Riesling and staff not able to communicate dishes and beverages that had sold out on a small menu isn’t good enough.

We ordered the 8 course set menu & was disappointed with the food. The seared tuna was precooked so when it was served it was cold & solid. There were noodles with broth & scollops. Scollops were lovely but the noodles with broth were cold. The steak was chewy, fatty & has a strange flavor. Online the 8 course pictures look amazing. This was not what we experienced. I gave the stars for the staff & setting. Loved the traditional setting. However the staff didn’t speak English very well so could not get an idea of what food we were getting in the set menu. They said it was the chef selection.

Hi, made a booking for my partners birthday. First of all couldn’t even remember that my booking was for a birthday, so no mention from any staff members regarding birthday. Staff were so unfriendly couldn’t barely even talk. Paid $167 for dinner which was so overpriced for the meals we received. Ordered a small sushi nigiri boat which was $40 and had 8 pieces of sushi on it. It was the worst nigiri boat I have ever had. Then we ordered two mains which were salmon and a scotch fillet both theses were around $60 each. It was so average. This is not a classy Japanese restaurant. Our meals didn’t even have rice and no one offered us rice. Japanese with out rice.🤔 If you want a good priced and fantastic food checkout out Yuki in the hills. Fantastic Japanese with great service and exquisite food. But if you feel like going to the worst Japanese in the darkest dodgy area just of hindley street go for it. You will be disappointed. 8 pieces of sushi, two average mains for $167🤮

We had dinner at the restaurant and as always the food and service was 1st class Unfortunately for them the hotel they are attached to is a quarantine hotel for returning travelers, this has cut the amount of people visiting the restaurant drastically. Hopefully they will continue to survive the situation, it would be a terrible shame to lose this wonderful place. they have all their procedures in place and i would happily visit again

We had a look online menu before booking. However, when we got there and found out the price had been almost doubled. All main courses were expensive and quite tiny, and even a bottle of spring water cost $15 . We were told that we could take the bottle home since the bottle was included. Is the restaurant selling food or bottles? We were surprise how the restaurant rate was 4.1 star. I would recommend people go elsewhere.

This is one of our favourite sushi and sashimi restaurants as we can be confident of getting really fresh food. For this particular dinner, we had a craving for sushi and sashimi, and as it was only 2 of us, we decided on the premium entree platter which gives you 9 varieties from the entree menu chosen by the chef and the large sushi boat that offered a variety of sushi and sashimi. We enjoyed this immensely as the combo gave us a variety of items with plenty for 2 not very big appetites. Service was good as usual. We will be back, also as usual.

Was looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant to head to with my wife and chose this one. Location was great, the service from Michelle was amazing and the food was sublime. We ordered the Beef Tataki and the Softshell Crab Tempura for entree. They were both packed full of flavour and were a perfect way to start the evening. The drinks menu was great and the sake selection was wonderful. For mains we got the Pork Tonkatsu and the Duck Leg. They were both delicious! The duck was perfectly cooked and the pork was authentic and came with a lovely combination of flavours to accompany. For dessert we asked for a recommendation. Michelle recommended the tastes of matcha dessert. We are huge fans of Japanese food but matcha and mochi (mochi comes with the matcha platter) usually aren't our top picks but everything else was so good we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. These are now my new favourites, they were so well done. The matcha flavoured cake, icecream, mochi and macaron were perfect and the house made matcha chocolate was a tasty surprise. I couldn't recommend this establishment more. The service was perfect, the advice was spot on, the atmosphere and decor were beautiful and the food was delicious! We will use any excuse to go back and dine here again!

Made a booking for 2, very busy night at the restaurant tonight (Saturday), seems a bit short of staff but we were greeted and seated accordingly....this place is our regular place for years. Loving the new menu, wagyu scotch fillet and lamb shanks are my new favourite in addition to our love for their fresh sashimi.
