The Ethos restaurant is closed since September. (see local press) Now, at the very same place, they opened a restaurant named "etties" which is misleading for those who are not aware of the closure of the former star restaurant. Although the new restaurant is not bad, it clearly try to mislead and capture the former customers which is not that... More

This is an upper segment restaurant which opened early November whose staff are creditably polished & the food good quality.

I booked this restaurant online a couple of months before coming to Hobart. When I looked up the directions on google maps it said 'permenantly closed'. Luckily it was a couple of hours before my 'booking' and found a last minute dinner (which ended up being a a total disappointment). The hotel staff said it was an institution and suddenly... More

Shockingly expensive, tasteless food, screaming for flavour, no salt, no pepper, no sugar. Onion the only flavour evident. $100 for degustation. Appetiser of raw lamb tasteless and overpowered by the sliver of boiled onion on which it was placed. The slow cooked egg looked disgusting and no matter how elaborately cooked at precise temp for exactly x amount of seconds... More

Really overpriced at $95 a head for carrots, leek, fennel, a rissole (only protein dish) and 2 desserts with the second one a broth that was really bad. Service average. Nice fireplace but they forgot to put would on it so it went out during service. Nice homemade bread after we asked if we could have some! Stay away, worse... More

Did the degustation dinner with matching wines with a few friends. Was fabulous - fresh, seasonal food matched by some really interesting wines. Great way to sample amazing Tasmanian produce cooked to perfection.

Excellent food and service. The passion for fresh produce and skill of cooking and the presentation was superb. Will definitely be back.

My partner and I have been to a few similar style degustations which were also amazing but the staff were lovely and the food was beautiful. I definitely have a new love for foods I didn't before. The menu changes daily which is exciting and the experience is worth every cent for someone who loves good food.

Great if you enjoy seasonal produce with creative treatment. You don't know what to expect as you are seated for your degustation and on the whole very satisfied! For the fine dining experience / degustation, well priced compared to many other capital cities and wine regions. Lovely ambiance and the foyer courtyard gorgeous.
