Initially you are drawn to another of Melbourne's graffiti corners. I literally had to cross the road to get a closer look.... My sister laughed and asked me if I had ever ventured up the alley. I had not. So she indulged me with a...More

What a strange little bar hidden at the end of Croft Alley! If you didn't know it was there, you wouldn't go. Cocktails are served with a syrynge to squirt the beverage into your mouth, beer is sold by the can or bottle. The whole...More

Great night out with friends, enjoyed by all. Music was fantastic and diverse range from upstairs & downstairs. Enjoyed the drinks by syringe, certainly Knicks you off your feet after a couple. A hidden gem you wouldn't want to miss

Melbourne's lanes are famous, but they can be a bit daunting, even for locals. Croft Alley runs off Paynes Place in Chinatown. The alley is covered in graffiti but the trek is worth it. The Croft Institute is a lot of fun, its atmosphere is...More

A must find if visiting Melbourne. I've never seen another bar or bar menu quite like this one! Meander through the colourful laneways until you find yourself here and whatever you do do NOT forget to check out the bathroom! If you're into science, Halloween...More

Don't let the shady alleyway put you off. Quirky bar that is like a science lab. Bar staff are laid back and happy to have a chat.

I really liked the idea behind this bar and had heard about it so we decided to head there one night, the drinks were fairly expensive and nothing special to be honest, service was slow as it was busy as well

I was on a girls trip in Melbourne and we were looking for something new and a bit different, we saw that the Croft Institue was an old Mental hospital which was now designed into a bar. On arrival I had a great interaction with...More

Alcohol served with a syringe. Mix that with potent concoctions and it is guaranteed to give you a buzz even after one drink. The bartender took time to educate us about the drinks on offer and enjoyed our experience there

Chances are you’ve typed ‘secret bars in melbourne’ or something similar into google and are now here, reading this review. There isn’t a ‘best bar’ list in Melbourne that doesn’t include The Croft Institute, and I can see why. From the creepy walk down a...More

Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place
to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place
simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude
a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration
over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on
Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes
such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your
money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving
