With my husband and as a french couple living in asia, we were looking for a french restaurant in Melbourne. This one was recommended and we loved it. The waiter were wonderful especially one named Jimmy who took care really well of us. I do...More
I used to come to this place 2 or 3 times per year, but now it is once every 2 or 3 years, perhaps longer. Anyway, a working lunch was planned and because South Yarra was equidistant for us, we decided upon France Soir.
The food is still excellent...although the chocolate sauce saves the profiteroles from being ordinary. The service still good with a touch of French arrogance to keep things tasty! The wine still the highlight. But maybe I'm getting old...the cramped conditions and the number of diners...More

- The food was variable: the duck was like corned beef (very salty and dry),...More
This was our first visit to France Soir. The greeting was fast and informal - we had booked for two people and, on arrival, were told to take one of three tables down the right side of the restaurant, without being accompanied to our table....More
In times of old the food was generous, delicious and reasonably priced. Now the portions have decreased and it isn't as good and the prices have gone up. Still a typical French atmosphere but the staff are not as attentive or polite.
