I took a customer here for their 2 course lunch. It was incredible. The service, pallet clensers, food taste and added extras were all wonderful. I would rate this my best Lunch in Melbourne, both in value and in taste. An unforgettable experience.

Took friends from Sydney for coffee at what should have been the best caffe in Melbourne. Sadly the espresso was cold & tasted burnt. Our guest ordered a cannoli only to find it was soggy - clearly it had been sitting around rather than prepared when ordered. Just to top it off I asked the waiter if the coffee shop... More

We had an adventurous gastronomic experience . The tastings were delightful delicate and pleasurable to the palate. The service was excellent and the staff were polite, obliging and knowledgeable. Sll was sensational.

Colleagues took me to dine at Grossi which was opened on the late 1800's as a wine bar and then became an Italian restaurant in the 1920's. It is an intimate space with tables close to one another. The menu is more contemporary Italian with a variety of appetizer and first and second course offerings. I had fresh stuff sautéed... More

Friday night a last minute decision to try Guys Grossi Restaurant on Burke St. We were lucky in away as we had no booking, a table was available on the sidewalk which was good if you are people watcher! Great food & not expensive, they bring bread & oil to start with ( no charge), we started with mixed olives... More

If you are looking for service, good food and to be pampered this is the best location in Melbourne. For a special occasion this is your first phone call. The best.

Went here tonight for my birthday dinner. Cost us a bomb and night started off on the wrong foot when the pompous British waiter seated me looking at the wall and my husband with the good view of the windows and the city. Then he never put our serviettes on our laps which I would expect and receive when dining... More

We visited this place during the week night which was busy enough. Lucky the weather was nice and we seated outside, it certainly has the nice feeling at the beginning. The meal were not as good as what we have imagined, the presentation also given the big NO. (Picture attached). Thinking of a celebrity chef owned restaurant would be glamourise... More

Italian restaurant. Crowded and very packed. However the waitress gave us great service. The food kept coming. Loved the antipasta which were all delicious. Also the pasta. The mains are very meaty - they did have two fish. Do order the soufflé if you want to eat it 20 min beforehand. We enjoyed ourselves and I think the waitress and... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
