The service and atmosphere on Lygon St was really enjoyable. My parents enjoyed their veal schnitzels, my pasta (carbonara) was quite plain in flavours. Overall I would return again, service was very friendly and fast, but I would get a pizza over the carbonara.

This is my absolute favourite restaurant. The food is always excellent and the staff are great. I love the garlic and cheese pizza and always order the tortellini saltati pasta as there is nothing like it anywhere else. It is the best!

didn't like the food at all... Pasta took about and hour to come and by that time we had finished all other dishes and they just kept us waiting. Terrible attitude of staff (especially the cashier) Not worth eating here compared to other restaurants at Lygon street.

Had a pleasant lunch here with my wife on a recent visit to Melbourne. Generous servings of Italian fare at a good price. Atmosphere is a bit lacking but more than made up for by the food and friendly staff.

Visiting Lygon street in the evenings is pretty enjoyable by itself. Papa adds to this with it's roudy atmosphere, quick service, and fantastic pizzas.

Simple, no fuss, quick service, adequate food, very economical value. Very popular establishment, doesnt take bookings. Best to go during the week.

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
