Casual little bar beside our hotel. Friendly staff and good place to meet up with friends and head off for the night. We enjoyed our short stay here. Little oasis off the busy rush hour streets

Enjoyed a one hour tour inside the Margaret Court and Rod Laver Areanas. It was informative and interesting. Only disappointing aspect was everything is removed from walls, locker rooms, etc., so you had to use your imagination some. It took us half an hour to find where the tour was to start because of construction and no signs. Finally found... More

We visited this bar purely based on the appeal of the name and it was near where we were staying. It was a lovely comfortable bar with friendly staff and great wine. On staff recommendation we tried the Korean Fried Chicken and were not disappointed - it was amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic bar! Was made to feel so welcome by the owner/cook and his cheery Irish barmaid that I felt obliged to eat there. Good decision - the fajitas were delicious and reasonably priced. Can most highly recommend this gem!

Visited this cosy little bar on Little Bourke (Spencer Street end Melbourne) for a casual lunch and drink. Staff were friendly, and with a perfect sized menu, not to overwhelming to make a decision. Shared house made croquettes, which were delicious, despite more garlic than I would generally like. Veal schnitzel very nicely crumbed, could have had a bit more... More

convenient place that is close to Southern Cross Station to meet up, have a drink and a snack. The menu is not extensive, but the staff were friendly and attentive.

Lovely, comfortable and welcoming small bar in Little Bourke Street, just off King Street. Staff are friendly and chatty. Service and food are great. This place has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Drop in if you are in the vicinity.

We went to this bar twice during our week's stay in Melbourne, once for a meal and once for a drink. The meal was a very simple but beautifully cooked steak and chips and the service on both evening was extremely friendly and efficient.

I first ate here about a year ago and had the duck ragu and it was awesome! I've been back twice since, both early on Saturday nights and both times the duck ragu wasn't available. Having such a small menu I think this probably isn't good enough. Mind you, I had the burger instead which was pretty good.

The bar was good, didn't expect such awesome food. The duck pasta was one of those dishes I will remember for a long time. The fries were awesome. Beer selection was very good (but I am from Portland and a bit of a beer snob). So crowded, no one goes there anymore.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
