This place is lovely and we go there regularly for the quiet attentive service, delicious food, especially Saltimbocca. Great wine choices, delicious salads, pasta, and dolci. Lovely atmosphere, crisp white table linen, soft lighting and Giacomo is a charming host. They also have huge range of pizza dishes. Middle range prices. A great choice if you want to have an... This is a wonderful family-run traditional style Italian restaurant which I used to visit regularly when I worked in the City more than ten years ago. I recently returned for lunch with a business colleague and it was as good as ever, and remarkably all of the staff remembered me and the group with whom I used to visit. The... More

I was taken here by an associate for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were wonderfully friendly and the pizza I had was beautiful and served promptly. The place was packed with suits over the lunch break and from what I heard many were repeat visitors. It was with these people that the staff really shone. Good old fashioned... More

This is my absolute favourite restaurant in Melbourne. Why you ask? Well, they know my table. They know my order, my tailorings. Don't come here looking for a fancy meal, because what you get is authentic Italian food that is to die for. I recommend their potato and blue cheese gnocchi, rigatoni with Italian sausage and they rotate their deserts... More

Good meals, generous portions & the once that we tried this restaurant it was of high quality. Ever since I can remember, I've always loved pizza. From growing up, I'm used to the very commercialized chains like Pizza Hut and Domino's.

Have been visiting "Ciao" for years. Whether it's with interstate clients for lunch or a Friday night dinner after work with the wife. Ciao Pizza Napoli never fails to provide a consistently good feed. It's good Italian food and great pizzas. If you like the traditional thin base with loads of flavour go for the "Anton's Special" it's not on... More

The kiddies and my hubby had filled up on a cake splurge but while on holidays to Melbourne all I wanted was a real pizza. It was luck and hotel location that allowed me to stumble upon this hidden gem. It looks like the kind of place the local Italians come regularly to catch up over real Italian food. We... More

Food was beautiful, the service was exceptional, located in the heart of Melbourne, very easy to find. Welcomed at the door and without delay taken to our table.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
