Really had great fish and chips, the only thing was disappointing, They did not have any vinegar. You can't have fish and chips with out vinegar on your chips.

Dear Gary, Thanks for your feedback, but your question has us totally stumped! Firstly, The Ancient Mariner is very much alive and kicking. We opened the business on January 1, 2014 and have been doing a brisk trade ever since and have earned a very good reputation for doing top class fish and chips. Our hours of operation have always been on Trip Advisor and you can see it if for yourself if you click on "Details" once you have located us on the site. Anyway, we have copy-pasted it below for your reference: Open Hours Sunday 12:00 - 21:00 Tuesday 16:00 - 21:00 Wednesday 16:00 - 21:00 Thursday 16:00 - 21:00 Friday 12:00 - 21:00 Saturday 12:00 - 21:00 The only day we are closed is Mondays: this is our weekly day off. But on public holidays which fall on a Monday, such as Easter, Anzac Day, Labour Day etc etc we are open for business. We only close the shop for two weeks at Christmas time and this is our sole annual break from work. You say that you dropped in on March 12th, which was a Saturday. What time was that exactly? Because on March 12th, we were open from 12 noon till 9pm as always. As proof, we have copy-pasted a randomised / partial summary of our Sales Report for that date, pulled from our computerised Point of Sale system: Till Date / Time Invoice Amount 12/03/2016 12:03:48 p.m.$22.50 12/03/2016 12:52:45 p.m.$12.60 12/03/2016 1:08:04 p.m. $29.10 12/03/2016 1:38:21 p.m. $15.00 12/03/2016 2:58:52 p.m. $31.90 12/03/2016 3:36:46 p.m. $50.20 12/03/2016 4:47:11 p.m. $24.80 12/03/2016 5:13:59 p.m. $11.10 12/03/2016 5:43:59 p.m.$28.60 12/03/2016 6:12:58 p.m.$10.50 12/03/2016 6:52:24 p.m.$25.90 12/03/2016 7:13:46 p.m.$4.10 12/03/2016 7:41:09 p.m.$25.10 12/03/2016 8:07:43 p.m.$12.70 12/03/2016 8:25:16 p.m.$12.70 12/03/2016 8:37:46 p.m.$12.80 As you can see from the above, our first sale of the day took place at 12:03pm, three minutes after we opened the doors, and the last sale that night was recorded at 8:37pm. The random sales records in between those times shows you that we traded through the day and evening, i.e. we were open for business throughout our advertised opening times. The only reason you would have found the shop locked is if you came outside of our opening hours. In any case, we have a sticker on our glass doors which gives you the Opening Hours as well, so we are at a loss to understand why you thought we had gone out of business rather than that you were visiting outside our opening hours. The only other (highly unlikely) reason we can think of is that you went to the wrong address / shop...? On a side note, the name of the shop The Ancient Mariner was used as the central concept in the interior decor, therefore everything is made to look aged / weathered / distressed, as far as possible....the interiors have earned us a lot of compliments ever since we opened so this is something that is very much appreciated by the punters as it hugely enhances the whole ambiance of the place. However, at no time did we even remotely consider that it would give someone who looked through the glass doors after hours the impression that the business had literally closed its doors permanently! Also, by way of night light, we have two ship lanterns by the glass windows fitted with candle-like bulbs that are on a timer and which automatically switch on and off between 5pm and 11pm. We also have a massive glass double-door commercial refrigerator placed in the customer wait area stocked with drinks that have a pair of tube lights that are permanently on! So we have no idea what exactly led you to the conclusion that the shop had ground to a halt! We are very sorry you wasted your time and money Gary, but in hindsight, if only you had looked up our opening hours (even on Google!) before you jumped in the taxi....! We do hope you let us know exactly how the misunderstanding occurred through this forum. Best regards, Trevor & Tina (owners in name but mere galleyslaves in reality! :-)
