My husband had heard Prof's advertising on the radio so we thought we would take my Mother out there today for lunch. Very friendly greeting & the food both from the Cabinet & off the Menu was absolutely delicious & reasonably priced. Both my Mother & Husband said the coffee was very good. Definitely worth a visit - Also the... More

A busy little cafe in Gordonton, great to bring dogs along outside. Great food and a brilliant atmosphere. Super friendly staff and a fabulous Cappuccino. Always frothy. As it should be. Highly recommend.

We celebrated my in-laws 60th wedding anniversary and because the café was already booked they booked the verandah for us. Having been there before I presumed it was the veranda of the café but in fact it was a wall with windbreaker matting and a roof. Unfortunately it was cold and windy and there was 8 adults and 5 children... More

You are right that the pavilion is a great environment, but as we say to all customers who book it, it is weather dependent. Because we are popular on the weekends, we recommend booking well ahead for family gatherings so we can guarantee a place within the cafe itself if the weather is inclement. More

This place is well worth a visit if you want somewhere charming. Think great food, friendly and willing service, wonderful ambience and you have the makings of a lovely meal out. The location, on the edge of a cricket green, is reminiscent of a lazy afternoon in the English countryside. The surrounding gardens are well worth exploring and if time... More

My wife and I just enjoyed a brunch experience. The Avo smash was delicious, the service quick and friendly, watching cricket as we ate added to the atmosphere. Definitely recommend trying this gem!!

Seven members of my family met here for my mothers 93rd birthday. The crispy pork belly I had was brilliant, and everyone else seemed very happy with their choices, and the plum crumble dessert was gorgeous. We were seated next to the counter which was a bit noisy and draughty, but on a nice day you could have sat down... More

On a glorious sunny day this was a pleasant place for lunch. There was the interior of the cafe, covered terraces or a paved area with tables with umbrellas. The menu had many choices. My husband choose the Prof's beef sandwich ( in a bun) and I had the pork belly. We'd both be happy to order these again. As... More

We took advantage of this venue's recent extension of opening hours to Friday evenings (open until 7pm) to have a couple of beers and a light dinner, and it was a really pleasant experience. Children's cricket matches were just winding up on the cricket oval next to the cafe, the day was still warm, the birds were singing and the... More

Had lunch here today with my daughter, reasonably tame at 12.30 in regards patronage but to be fair it is a destination cafe rather than location and I imagine they do a lot of their trade in the weekends with people out for a drive. Very pleasant outlook on to a big green and great place to wAtch a spot... More

Perfect day for lunch at Profs. Place was humming, but yet food arrived reasonably quickly after ordering. Food was delicious and wine was devine... great for families too with plenty of choice for the kids to eat and toys to keep them occupied. Could've easily settled in for the afternoon...

Description
Situated on the edge of a cricket oval beneath huge old trees planted in the 19th century, this gem of a cafe offers fabulous food and excellent coffee away from the pressures of the city. Open seven days for breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon tea, Woodlands Cafe is also great for private functions, such as birthdays, high teas, and special events. While parents sit back and enjoy fine food, children can run about in the cricket oval or amuse themselves with a range of toys, including trolleys from the cafe. Afterwards take a stroll in the heritage gardens, recently awarded the prestige of being a Garden of National Significance. And do pop into the historic homestead, where the Anchor brand started. Wheelchair access available.
