We ordered cuisines on the Chinese menu. They taste fresh and authentic. Generally very good choice if you wish to try Chinese food in NZ.

We arrived in Rotorua and though we would get some fish and chips on our first night. Quickly checking TripAdvisor we were pointed towards Oppie's. The chips tasted like cardboard and I definitely have had better fish before. The awards they received are not current.

Maybe not the best fish and chips in Rotorua... They stuffed up the order twice, chips weren't cooked, and I thought half the fish had broken off it was so small. How long can they milk those awards? Hopefully someone else gets acknowledged soon, as these guys give famous kiwi food a bad wrap.

Great little fish and chip shop, not sure about the Chinese Takeaway. Although it appears that if you appear Asian your offered a seperate menu for your Chinese food order. Would hope that doesn't include a price defferential.

Ordered a chicken burger with chips and the roast pork with crackling. Impressed with the size of the order!!! Could not finish the chips because the burger was so big. Pork was accompanied with steamed rice and vegetables - tasty.

Maybe not award winning anymore but still a very good option for a fish and chip dinner, the value seemed pretty good for a chip shop with a good reputation in a tourist town. Certainly the batter was nice and crispy and chips seemed okay, certainly the wait seemed more than reasonable for fresh cooked food. Would go back again.

Great variety of options for a family with a wide range of tastes. Good quality food and efficient service. We rang in an order and it was ready before the estimated time they gave. Good value for money, fish pieces are large

Really nothing spectacular, and certainly not worthy of any awards currently. Chips were very much run of the mill and under salted, the fish however was good (had snapper) and batter crisp. Also had some Chinese food, which was ok, but again nothing to write home about. Overall the food is ok, but the place is busy so you have... More

Description
New Zealand Herald ranks Oppie's #4 Fish and Chips place in New Zealand. I don't know who the other 3 are but Oppies is the best i've had and their chinese takeaway is great too. good prices, generous portions.
