This is our second time visiting Rotorua and eating fish and chips from Oppie's lovely fresh fish and not greasy at all.

Really nothing spectacular, and certainly not worthy of any awards currently. Chips were very much run of the mill and under salted, the fish however was good (had snapper) and batter crisp. Also had some Chinese food, which was ok, but again nothing to write home about. Overall the food is ok, but the place is busy so you have... More

We phoned through an order on a recent stay at a motel in Rotorua over the Christmas period. We couldn't be bothered going out so wanted something delivered to us. Unbeknown to us it appears that we were charged for and given snapper when we had asked for "fish", not specifically snapper. Chips were average, not fantastic, not terrible. Sweet and... More

I was on the road and in a hurry to keep moving, and so found this place on Trip Advisor. I ordered gurnard and chips over the phone. 10 min later on my arrival it was ready. Piping hot and delicious. Not to oil and just delicious. The service was excellent and the place looked very clean.

We ordered gurnard fillets and 3 scoops of chips for a family of 4. The chips were plentiful and we had lots to spare. The battered fish was fresh and tasty. Don't let the odd surroundings put you off, it was a great meal.

Been a year since we last came through Rotorua and brought a meal at Oppie's. It has gone right downhill. Memories of fresh crisp home made spring rolls, chrispy chips and fresh tasting fish now replaced with overcooked mass produced oily sludge. The "Chinese" food which used to be a feature is now just as bad. Front of house is... More

The fish was good - but the wait was long. Lots'of variety but also lots of ques - it is a popular place.

Extremely highly overrated place to eat. First time we came into try their "famous chips" which were extremely disappointing. Second time decided to see how they go with the Chinese food, ordered their "famous fried rice" and beef and black bean and minced pork and beans. Charged an extra $5 for fresh beans (I would have thought that fresh would... More

An award winning takeaway shop with Rotorua's best fish and chips. Also serve an extensive range of asian dishes.

.... people have never tasted real fish and chips. Come on folks... the chips come frozen from McCains (a Canadian global potato conglomerate). Any self respecting chippie joint would always chip their own from local potatoes. Sadly we were lured to this locale by the reviews on TripAdvisor. Our first impression upon entering was Huh??? Everything is priced... the forks,... More

New Zealand Herald ranks Oppie's #4 Fish and Chips place in New Zealand. I don't know who the other 3 are but Oppies is the best i've had and their chinese takeaway is great too. good prices, generous portions.
