Love coming to Yamoto for lunch and dinner. The service is excellent and the food is always fresh and delicious. The Sashimi is my absolute favourite.

What a wonderful restaurant!. The atmosphere was present and the servers friendly. I dropped my wallet in the dining room and got it back the next morning with everything intact. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We found this place by chance on our night in Rotorua when our first two choices were booked out. Lucky for us there were two seats left when we arrived, but many others had to find somewhere else to go after that...so would recommend arriving early in the busy season. We were pleased to have found this spot - the... More

This is the kind of restaurant you'd likely walk right on by, and head to the bigger flasher eateries around the town. But we go here for lunch at least monthly for the last 5+ years and the food has always been amazing. It's always so fresh and tasty, and the staff are just lovely. If you want to find... More

Yamato is by far the best Japanese in town. Not only because of the large selection of different Japanese courses but also the service is amazingly good. Though little staff they see everything and orders come prompt and not all at the same time. The tables are well placed so there is enough privacy for conversations. The wine 0,5 ltr... More

If you like Sushi and Sashimi - this is the place to go grab a seat at front of the restaurant and watch the Japanese chef when he prepares your meal. Try the spicy tuna roll.

We're big lovers of Japanese Cuisine, so after a long day driving to Taupo we thought Yamato would be a great way to unwind. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food had good flavour. I particularly liked the small sashimi platter which included 5 different cuts of fish. The restaurant was leaning on the pricy side but the... More
