Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After four amazing nights of dinners at The Brook we cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough . The quality and presentation is absolutely on point and delicious. Couple that with the friendliness of both Keith and Maryann all we can add is we will most...certainly be recommending and also be returning . We simply cannot understand any recent negative feedback Wendy and Jocelyn Upper HuttMore

This really is a great spot! Yes, it's off the beaten track, and yes it's the dining room of a classic kiwi motel/hotel. But the food really is great. Steak Diane was pretty much perfect, menu is focussed and it's clear that the chef cares...about the quality (and taste!) of the food she's serving. Service is welcoming and homely. If the ambience was slightly different, and the accents a little more French, you'd be in a classic French family-owned bistro. Highly recommended.More

The dinner special was described as Steak Diane with potatoes dauphinois and spinach. Blast from the 1970’s. The kitchen can’t cook. The whole meal was so over salted, especially the spinach and the sauce. There was a strange lump of potatoes, certainly not a dauphinois...which was also over salted. Couldn’t eat it, explained why and were told they agreed it was over salted. We fully expected that we would not be charged for something we didn’t eat but no there was $36 for one steak on the bill! Thought we’d try a dessert. Described as Armagnac prunes in a cake it was served stone cold. Very unfortunateMore

Absolutely delicious meals. So well presented and packed full of flavour. Such a beautiful restaurant for enjoying food that you can feel has been prepared with love and in a lovely cosy setting. Thank you Mary Ann and Keith, wonderful hosts!

What an outstanding restaurant! Generous and beautifully presented meals from an ever-changing menu, as well as a daily specials board (including great desserts). Fantastic service from Keith in an old-fashioned, pleasant setting. Can't wait to go back in summer and sit outside. The best option...for guests at Ripple (would also recommend staying here) and I hear the breakfasts are fantasticMore

We had an absolutely amazing meal here. A little off the beaten path and the atmosphere is like dining in your grandmas house! There was fresh produce growing right off the back patio and some of these tomato’s were used for the most delicious bruschetta...I have ever eaten! Wonderful lamb and even the apricot dessert at the end was wonderful. Can’t recommend enough!More

We met a couple at a wine tasting on Waiheke Island that told us about this restaurant so we made a point of getting a reservation while we were in Rotorua. While the atmosphere is lacking (they might want to consider dimming the lights and...playing some music), the food and the service was top notch. We really loved everything we put in our mouths—just so fresh, well prepared, and overall delicious. If I was local I'd eat there every chance I had!More

A lovely restaurant, a bit out of the way but well worth the effort. The meal was excellent and service superb with a humour.

We looked at TripAdvisor and chose this one. It is roughly 4 km's out of town at a small hotel/motel. Only 8 tables but the atmosphere was very nice. The food was excellent and so was the service. Relaxed and good value for money.

This was such a random find. Went here because of the great reviews. Would not have found it otherwise. This is a must for great food. Lovely people that work there. They have all been there for years and it shows. Great team, great service,...great food! Between the four of us we had steak, lamp rump and blue warehou fish. All cooked to perfection. The cheesecake was authentic baked - yum. This place is a must for great food.More
