Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The entree was okay. Mains were terrible, I don't think this Restaurant understands what Medium-rare is... The only good thing I can say about this restaurant is the view but is honestly not worth the price. Anywhere else would taste better and have better service...than this restaurant. The reviews definitely speak a lot for themselves, I do regret not properly reviewing this restaurant before dining here.More

Where do I begin, I booked a table for my partner and I here for our anniversary together. We arrived at our reserved time at 7pm but we weren't on the list (we got a confirmation email back saying our booking was received). We managed...to get a table, the view up there is stunning, we ordered our entree which was fine and very tasty, then we got our mains....... and oh my God... we ordered the Beef Lovers with medium rare steak but when we got our meal (40 minutes later) the meat was well done and appears to have been cooked in a microwave as it was rubbery to eat and our vegetables were cold to the touch, so I said out loud that I'm not eating this $%&€ and McDonald's can do better and we ended up only paying for the entrees and leaving. I will never go back there and would not recommend it as wellMore

Went up this evening with a couple of friends and had the platter. Beautiful seafood platter followed with cuts of different meats. Brisket was lovely and tender and steak was delicious and flavor some. Staff were super friendly and happy to take photos for us!...Great value for money, will definitely visit again when back in town.More

Highly disappointed in the meal. We ordered the grand platter. The seafood was the highlight. There was no lamb, the venison (if that’s what it was) was large chunks of chewy gristle and fat (definitely not carpaccio) - some pieces were inedible. The chicken was...extremely dry and tasteless. The ribs were dry and left a fatty after taste in your mouth. When we expressed our experience the response was ‘sorry about that’. We paid the FULL bill and left. We will not return, nor recommend to others. This is not a fine dining experience. There are plenty of other amazing eateries in Rotorua.More

I have been coming to this restaurant every time I am in Rotorua for over 30 years. It is one of the few true remaining fine dining restaurants in NZ. Yes, it is a little dated but the view and food are spectacular. Last night...was no exception. We started with scallops and venison carpaccio. Both were mouth watering. But it was a hard choice with garlic prawns and confit duck also on the entree list. The venison at this restaurant is always excellent - possibly as it is on a deer farm - and last night was no exception. The combination of the meat with a chocolate berry sauce and poached pear was exquisite. The beef was also cooked to perfection. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. The service also was exceptional. Keep up the good work!More

This is our go-to place for romantic celebrations and it certainly didn’t let us down. The occasion? our 20th anniversary. The location? Perfect. We started with Duck Leg Confit and Garlic Prawns, followed by the Beef Lovers ( mine, medium rare, hers burnt beyond recognition)...Everything was delicious. Coupled with a lovely bottle of French Rose, it was the perfect meal. We were served by a lovely lady, who made sure everything was perfect. We watched quite a few couples taking photos silhouetted by the view. Given the location, the view, and the atmosphere, the cost of the meal was exceptionally reasonable. The highlight for the wife was the German Shepherd pup roaming the premises.More

Unfortunately we really did not enjoy our Christmas dinner at Aorangi Peak. We are partially to blame, as it was a set menu of mostly fish/seafood served cold and we don't really like that cuisine. There was also a carvery dinner, which we are accustomed...to and usually like, however most of the meat was cold/luke warm and had been sitting out for quite a while. The desert, which we like, was also very poor quality. We didn't eat any of the cold fish, and as I said, we're partially to blame for booking it, but the restaurant made no attempts to provide an alternative. We didn't make any fuss and were not rude about it, didn't make any demands. The waitress saw that we didn't touch our first dish of cold fish and asked if we wanted the second to be served. We politely said no thank you. Again we weren't asked or offered alternatives - would have even taken a pot noodle. I felt embarrassed and felt like the waitress was taking it as a personal insult that we didn't like the food. In the end having ate very little and having declined to be served one of the courses, we were charged full price. Again, we booked it, partially our fault, but a small gesture would have been nice. I would not recommend the restaurant. We went to McDonalds on the way home.More

Disappointment began the moment we arrived as we waited with two other parties to be greeted by anyone. I finally went in search of someone to come to the reception desk. One reason for going to this location is for the view. Our window view...was marred with bird droppings and what appeared to be paint. The food was awful! The eye fillet was prefrozen and chewy. I could not identify the soup flavor without being told it was mushroom. And the complementary homemaked bread was two, 1” rings of stale French bread. The drinks refrigerator was broken so all drinks were served at room temperature. We didn’t stick around for dessert and were out of there within an hour. We relocated to a much nicer restaurant for dessert. Don’t waste your money, you would get a better meal at Cob and Co.More

I visited for dinner with a group of 13 people last week. The view is nothing short of remarkable - but unfortunately the food was just ok (for the price points), the service was disappointing and the premises well overdue for a tidy up. For...both 1st and 2nd courses most served meals at our table were cold before all those who ordered received their meal. I ordered salmon for main - and to be honest - Lone Star serve better salmon. My recommendation: Visit this restaurant for coffee and cake - enjoy the view - but don't bother spending absurd amounts of money on anything else.More

Amazing views from this fantastic restaurant. As you drive up you are greeted by the deer and Lammas which is a neat experience. The restaurant itself is tastefully furnished. The food was a good size for the cost, scallops are definitely a must. Thank you...to our waiter for the excellent service we will definitely be back!More

Four of us went to Aorangi Peak restaurant last night for father’s day dinner. This is one of our favorite restaurants. Our waiter was fantastic the food was delicious and the view from this restaurant is the best in Rotorua along with the Gondola. This...is a beautiful restaurant for a romantic dinner. The tables are spread far apart so it is not noisy like many restaurants. We will be back if you haven’t been here go and try it. Thankyou yet again for a lovely dinner and atmosphere.More
