Had the risotto and the blue cod and salmon. Both were huge dishes - we couldn't finish them between us! We should've have just ordered one main and shared an entree! But excellent, best seafood risotto I've had in a while. Very fresh prawns and just done nicely - sweet and not at all rubbery. Speight's Old Dark was lovely... More

We wanted to dine in, so ordered our drinks at the bar first. What a dilemma! Not only did the young barmaid get our order wrong several times (we only ordered a pint of beer and 2 CC drys), it took her less than 10 minutes, yes just under 10 minutes to get this done...what the? Ok, we can look... More

We only had a couple beers here, but were impressed-- great setting, cozy fire, friendly staff and great beer. It was a nice way to end the evening.

I was sad when I finished my meal because I knew I had to go home to Australia and would not be able to enjoy it again for a long time. Fantastic food. Great place. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Go the south!!

Great place to meet, easy parking, lots of space for bigger groups and a place by the fire to do business.

Good value meals. Had fresh and fried oyster. The batter for the fried oysters was light and complimented the oysters. The fresh oysters were plump and tasty. These were followed by lambs fry. A hard dish to get just right and this was. The menu offers a wide selection, maybe too many. Wine selection is so so as might be... More

Called ahead for dinner before attending the rugby. Excellent reception and very good service all round. I had pork belly and my wife had roast pork. Both were good sized portions and very well cooked. The only issue was the crackling on both dishes was the worst In have had and my wife's was bordering on inedible. Other than that... More

We were looking for a quick meal as we had an event to go to. We booked in early in the evening, and couldnt ask for better service. Only problem was we wished we had known how big the meals were. Superb food, quick service with attentive friendly staff. Thanks Kristy? Kristen? Even though the Ale Houses are independant restaurants,... More

A great variety of dishes that are good value as the meals are massive - and I'm a big eater. Well presented and delicious food.

This place has friendly knowledgeable staff who make great cocktails and pretty much whatever your choice of drink is. The bar food was tasty and quick. We enjoyed the band and the atmosphere. Not somewhere to go on a Friday night for a peaceful evening which was not what we were after!
