Popped in for a quick drink before a meal round the corner, instantly impressed by the beer garden and then also the quaint inside seating areas , all looked and felt homely. Served instantly and efficiently by a very nice gentleman. Sat outside near the...pizzeria kitchen and we definitely want to come back and try that. Highly recommended.More

We visited here after a brisk Sunday walk and due to having the dog with us, we sat outside. It was a quite Sunday lunch and I appreciate we ordered towards the latter part of the day around 4pm, I wasn’t quite expecting to receive...the last bits of food available (judging by the quality). My partner wasn’t keen on the veg as was rather under cooked, the mash tasted like smash potatoes, the roasties had no character, and by that I mean sliced potatoes cooked it fat…. No lovely crispy fluffed skins you might expect of a roast potato made with love and care. However the pinnacle of the meal was the rather thickly sliced, over cooked beef we were both served. It was impossible to cut, never mind chew. The dog enjoyed some of the more edible bits, but the majority was left on the plate. We mentioned this to the young waitress but I doubt it was fed back to the kitchen. We didn’t dare ask for a replacement as we had already waited 45 minutes for the food. Credit where credit is due, the horseradish sauce had a kick, the yorkie was good, as was the gravy. We won’t be returning.More

Stopped here for the first time for a spot of lunch. Looked nice and inviting from the outside and indeed had a lovely welcome from the barman on entering. Nicely laid out and decorated inside. A good chilled atmosphere. Prompt friendly service. The food we...ordered was wonderful. Be both ordered ciabattas - mine was prawn and chilli mayo, hubby’s was sausage and caramelised onions. Accompanying them was hand-made crisps and salad, but we ordered an additional dirty fries (with bacon and cheese). Great tasting food and generous portions beautifully presented - top marks to the chef! The ciders we had were a little pricey compared to most, hence the 4 stars instead of 5, but that wouldn’t stop us returning in future for lunch.More

Very surprised visiting the White horse on Saturday evening, called in for a drink , told we couldn’t stand here or there or there … we waited at the bar for drinks and were told the reason we couldn’t stand in certain places of the...bar was as food was coming through to a private function, seems very odd and we left without actually buying a drink. Officious and unfriendly woman in charge .More

After a meal out in Quorn, we were looking for somewhere to get a few drinks, and this place was perfect! The large outdoor space with fire heaters was great for us whilst still feeling a bit covid-nervous and the range of drinks was brilliant...- gin menu, rum menu, cocktails and shots. Jam doughnut shots were amazing! The staff were also fantastic - super friendly, helpful and patient with the requests for cocktails! Georgia, Charlie and Emily were fab and a big thank you to Remi for highly recommending the jam doughnuts - I'm glad she did!More

We opted to visit The White Horse because we thought this would be a good place to bring an elderly relative for a pre Christmas Sunday lunch - and the roast dinners always get a good review. The pub is nice and cosy and the...staff are friendly and helpful. It was fully booked on the Sunday we visited, and we were pleased that we had an early booking. We opted for the roast dinner - one beef, two pork. As if often a problem, the beef was sliced very thickly and the veggies super 'al dente' for a older palate. I quite happily chomped through my pork, complete with crackling, but despite being returned to the kitchen for a second blast in the microwave, I'd have been risking a dental appointment if I'd eaten the veg. Pecan pie - a favourite of mine - was a bit disappointing - too much filling to pecan ratio left it rather stodgy, and the Christmas Pudding was served with Brandy Sauce (i.e. the custardy liquid) rather than the Brandy Cream that was suggested. Nice 'local' pub atmosphere with decent-ish food, but definitely room for improvement.More
