Popped in for an easy early dinner in the bistro after driving up from Sydney. Had the 200g steak & steamed veggies. Nice glass of red. What was even nicer was the pianist whose vocals were superb. Not too loud, just a lovely background for casual dinner conversation. Throw in the fireplace for warmth and it was pretty darn close... More

Food was fresh and tasty. We share mussels special and crispy skin salmon. Plates empty and us satisfied. Room cosy from fire on a cold May evening. Can be noisy and very busy. It took us three attempts and different days to get a table. Worth the persistence.

Value for money, family friendly Hotel with a separate entrance for restaurant customers. We are not hotel people as we don't drink but found the atmosphere friendly and the food great. I had the shoulder of lamb and my companion had the vegetable stack. Not much open during the week in the city centre but you could not do better.... More

We looked on TripAdvisor for the best pub for food in Armidale ( NSW ) and this pub came up. We shared a fried calamari for entree and had crispy salmon and chicken schnitzel for mains. Food was well presented and staff were very friendly. We went there on a Monday night ( 24/4/17 ) at 6.15pm and just beat... More

Six of us dined at the centrally-located 'Newey' on a Thursday night. We all enjoyed the vibe of the place as well as our meals. I ordered lamb shoulder - which was nicely served on a bread board (see below photo). The meat was tender and delicious. It was accompanied by roasted beetroot wedges, potatoes, baked eggplant and other winter... More

We were going to eat at the Brasserie but the prices were more than we desired. However, we did go to the bar for a drink. First drinking hole we had visited in town that actually had local wines (from two different wineries) & beer. We really enjoyed the ambiance of this beautiful old building. Great spot for a conversation... More

Decided to try this out after being recommended by an Armidale local. Food was excellent as was the service. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food served. I had the blue eyed cod which was delicious and cooked to perfection. Thank you for the recommendation Sandstock Motel.

Great food at a reasonable price with quick service and great atmosphere. Kerb appeal bought me in and I'm so glad because I wasn't disappointed.
