Good pub food, inexpensive wine. Thai beef salad could do with a bit more bite - bit of lemon grass and/or chilli, perhaps? And more crisp green, less meat. Fisherman’s basket was great - only the calamari was deep fried, and even that, just a...light touch. Everything else was shallow-fried or poached. Went for a family dinner, we had all travelled from interstate or other regional Victoria areas and had our elderly mothet was with us. We arrived around 6.30 to 6.45. Ordered our meals and waited and waited. It took over an hour for mains to...come out. 2 of our party had the crumbed cutlets. The crumb coating was very dark brown and they were tough. The other party had chicken snitz which was OK. Desert was a flop as well, rhubarb crumble had sold out. Swapped for lemon meringue which was commercial made and very average. The sticky date was ok. I would pass on this bistro if we were looking for a meal in Bendigo again.More

Barely OK. Polite, efficient staff. My wife's thought her lamb ragout gnocchi was great. My daughter really liked her pulled pork burger. The chips were great. But that was it. The duck spring rolls were tasty, but lacked duck in quantity and flavour. I ordered...the 'chef's recommended' beef curry. It was terrible. Completely lacked any depth of flavour whatsoever. If anything it tasted watered down. Only ate a third. Also, really annoyingly, we were seated right next to the toilet door, which thumped shut very noisily frequently through the evening. I would not have left this review if I had not looked at other reviews and, just a few in, found another review complaining about the noisy toilet door. They gave one star. Lakeview have a sign asking patrons to give them a review. If you are not reading your reviews and looking for easy fixes (like the door) to improve customer experience, then it is poor management and disrespectful to customers. Luke warm, borderline rude staff followed by complete garbage mains. The place feels like it's declined sharply from what it once was. We won't bother to test for improvements moving forward...bye bye.

A WOW rating!! We fluked this place staying next door at Alexandra Place. The food was so good! We ordered the confit duck and the rump steak and both dishes were superb! Busy as, on a Wednesday night and we could see why. Topped off...the dinner with bottle of Wild Duck Creek Shiraz from Heathcote - 5 stars.More

I had the garlic prawns it was perfect and whoever decided to add macadamia nuts, needs a pay rise. The bar service made you feel welcome and I could have settled in for a good session on that tank beer if i wasn't just passing...through.More

Great food- stuffed chicken breast with roast veggies- pumpkin, carrot, potato, parsnip and peas. If eating with large group of 10 or more, expect to wait at least 45 minutes for food to come out. Cashier was friendly

We (4 ladies) visited the bistro on Saturday 6th August. We did book a table in the afternoon and was greeted by friendly staff. Told when we were ready to order just go to the bar.
