Most locals reckon this is the best "roast dinner" restaurant in Greymouth, and they're probably right! It's a good idea to get there early most evenings as it's very popular and rightly so. A choice of at least two joints is on offer plus other dishes. pasta, and steaks cooked to order. I eat there twice in a week, roast... More

Good selection of quality homely fare. Served with a hearty helping of delicious gravy. The complimentary soup is also a must to try. The carvery is a must visit for real West Coast hospitality.

Both nights I had dinner here I had a roast meal. All mains at the restaurant include a soup and the roast was only $18.00

The Raceway carvery ( union Hotel ) is a great place for a good meal and is very child friendly, With a private hire room you can hold your own functions and this even comes with its own bar .

We stopped in while staying in Graymouth, during our drive. It's a buffet style and some items on the menu the cook to order. My medium rare steak was well done. On the bright side the price is right.

My group was holding an afternoon meeting in the conference room and the committee met in the carvery over lunch. It was unpretentious and good quality. Some of the ladies, like S, settled for soup and rolls. Breaking my usual lunch rules, I had a small roast (beef) of the day with veges and horseradish. Further breaking the rules, I... More

Went as two couples. Reasonably bust night but service was ok. We were told due to the numbers (including a large group) in the restaurant that there may be a wait, but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was nice - flavoursome and fresh. Would recommend it.

The union is the place to go for a roast (or half roast), and with free vege soup who could resist. For those who missed out on boarding school or barracks this is a great alternative... The food is honest and tasty and doesn't pretend to be what it isn't. I'm sure the decor hasn't changed in over 40 years... More

My family & I had a dinner at the Carvery the other day, the meals are very good value & presented beautifully, the staff are very pleasant, the meals are cooked smartly & there is lots of seating available even for a larger group if you were planning a bigger outing.

Eat here once a month & always get a great feed for a reasonable price. Nothing fancy, but a good Kiwi pub meal. The food is reliably well cooked and of the same quality each visit. Best roast potatoes out! Staff are friendly if a little busy some nights, as its a popular place for a good family meal. Meals... More
