Excellent Indian food in Nelson, prompt efficient service

We shared a banquet; there were 5 of us. The service was prompt and efficient. The food was really delicious and plenty of it! The butter chicken was excellent, and the naan bread too

Some of the best Indian food I’ve had in ages!

Wow what a lovely restaurant. The food was really nice, some of the best Indian food I have had in ages. The atmosphere was great, loved the decor and there was some great outdoor seating as well. They asked me to write a review

My dining experience (group of 4) was going well up until the point I was asked by one of the staff to write a review. I wish restaurants didn't do this, it screams desperation and makes the TripAdvisor awards it proudly hangs on its walls...look a little hollow. Aside from this, my meal was pleasant and I would come back again, which is usually a pretty good indicator for any restaurant, right? But next time round I will be steering clear of the Dal Fry (a thick salty mess). The best meal we ordered was the Fish Madras. And also, everything was pretty reasonably priced.More

Lovely special business dinner thankyou Denise

Best meal out we've had in years

We were visiting Nelson to see family and this was the best meal out we've had in years - absolutely delicious, generous servings, not too long to wait despite it being a busy night, lovely staff, excellent value. Thankyou!

Hostess with the mostest!!

enjoyable meal - recommended

We had a great meal - tasty, good sized portions, friendly staff, didn't have to wait long and nice environment. There was an outside patio space with tables but we chose to sit inside as it was a little breezy. We would recommend this cafe.

Food not authentic and has color in it.

We went here for dinner after reading all the positive reviews, however we were disappointed. Food was not authentic and had lots of color in it. Naan were not so bad but the curries just lacked flavor. For dessert we asked for gulab jamun, which...were served cold. We requested them to be warmed up but don’t think the waiter understood us, however she took it back and probably microwaved it and brought it back. We went to little india two nights in a row which was really good. We wanted to try a different restaurant hence came here but we were not happy with the food.More

Good Food

The food is delicious and the building is adorable. That said, it was way to loud for us, and after waiting an hour for the appetizer, we just had them box up the mains to take home and enjoy. Make sure you get reservations and...maybe don't pick a busy night. The naan was burned on the outside but not done inside and the dishes lacked something - salt? Probably just overwhelmed by the number of people that night.More

Better info

Sadly tried ordering by phone but hung up on. Went into restaurant abd ordered takeout. Was told 30 minutes so waited 40. Nope not ready abd told to wait some more. 🤨

Sorry about the communication gap with your order. On a busy night it can be difficult to gauge how quickly your food will be ready as all our dishes are made to order. Hopefully we will do better next time.
