We stumbled on this little pub whilst visiting a relative in hospital up the road. It was a week day and we had obviously arrived at a busy time, but we were greeted warmly and shown to a table. Service was prompt and the food was tasty and hearty which was just what we needed. The staff were lovely, a... More

This is a very nice country pub in a very picturesque village with a very interesting and varied menu based on traditional British food but with a modern and Asian twist for some dishes. The squid was Ok but not great but the stone bass was very nice and the rest of the table enjoyed the food very much. Overall... More

We went for lunch to the Black Horse on Easter Monday , as a family group including two very picky young girls . Our experience was first class from start to finish - we were welcomed on arrival and shown to a super table , the service was rapid and attentive throughout our meal , and the food we ordered... We visited as a family of four last Thursday night. The Black Horse is lovely, the waitress that served us was friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was well presented. The menu had sufficient choice for my wife and I and the children's menu was also good. Our twin daughters (11) were going to order the burger from the main... More

We had friends staying for the weekend and decided to eat out Sunday lunchtime. Although we have called in several times for a drink we haven't eaten at The Black Horse for some time so were a bit apprehensive! Shouldn't have worried as Jane and her staff were on the ball. The best Sunday roast we have ever eaten there.... More

Will keep it brief: went for Sunday lunch today. Waited ages for the main course (potentially excusable as it's a busy time for them) however, everything went downhill very quickly. Having asked how long it would be for the main course, it dawned on the waiter that he had given it to the wrong table. You would have expected a... More

Lovely village venue. Nice country restaurant with good parking. service very quick and friendly. Overall the food was excellent. Sadly I had the chicken dish. The chicken was cooked to perfection. But why oh why did the chef ruin it by drowning it in a circa 1980's cream sauce. What a pity. All the other dishes were excellent too. Chef,... More

wonderful food and service as per our last visits, celebrating my other half's mothers day, thought it would be tough as my mum passed on 8th October last year they had limited menu for today, but all enjoyed the food, being a veggie I did not like the option they had so they cooked me another option, could not fault... Brilliant food and even better service. Popped in for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. Gorgeous surroundings, full of character & style. The food was delicious and came with very helpful suggestions from the very attentive waiter. On the way out Nick showed us the stunning bedrooms - beautiful. Wish I lived further away so I could have a reason... More
