Visited for the first time for dinner. Restaurant was not overly busy. Service from our lovely Irish waitress was great, however food service was very slow. The temperature inside was also cold which wasn’t ideal for lingering over dessert so we left. All food was delicious and I’d happily eat the muscles entree as a main any time! Entertainment voucher made pricing reasonable for a post-covid lockdown meal out. We tried returning with our three teenagers on Queens birthday for lunch and was “greeted” by a grumpy woman who wanted to tell us they were out of a lot of food then left. No one came out for drink or food orders for a long time and many tables were full around us but with no food in sight. We took this as a cue to leave and spent our money elsewhere which was a shame as our dinner the night before had been lovely. Would try again next time but service needs attention to keep us coming back.

For our last dinner in New Zealand after a month-long visit, we choose Postmasters and were not disappointed. We had a lovely seat on the porch...the service and food were excellent. We all had the lamb for main and enjoyed a variety of starters and desserts. Great place!

Cozy little cafe in a historic building right on the main street of Arrowtown. We found the menu a little bit uninspiring (read: very much the standard stuff, eggs, burgers, juice) but all staff were very friendly and extremely welcoming. We also greatly appreciated that the venue accepts American Express cards which is not a given in New Zealand unfortunately. Would definitely recommend this place for a low key lunch or breakfast.

Four adults and it was lunch time. Menu on outside display looked to have something for everyone. Reception was prompt and seating immediate. Water on hand promptly and menus distributed. Drinks were ordered and these arrived as appropriate. Three ordered seafood chowder and the fourth chose a steak sandwich. Good prompt service of meals. Chowder was 'marginally' above average and very very hot - however it was served with a dark heavy bread bun which none of us could eat as it was so dry and tasteless. Steak sandwich had tiny slices of rare beef and a sprinkling of greens on a half bun with a small amount of commercial crisps served alongside. For $26 that serving was very poor quality and quantity. It was impossible to have a conversation during lunch too because background 'noise' which was some type of music was absolutely deafening. Two of us had been at this café previously and had good memories but sadly we felt disappointed and could not recommend. The premises is busy and well located to attract the many meandering tourists in the town and it felt embarrassing to think how poor the standard was for them.

Orders a bagel and avocado smash. Sounded great on the menu. Basically I was served a very soggy and slightly burned bagel covered in tasteless tomatoes and very salty feta. There was a small amount of mashed and pretty much tasteless avocado on the side. Very disappointed. Won’t be returning to this restaurant.

Having read the glowing reports we decided to breakfast here but sadly neither of us were to enjoy our meals.
I chose the 'creamy mushrooms' on a toasted bun plus a fried egg as an extra.
My husband requested the full breakfast with his eggs fried, but chose not to have the sausage.
1. His meal arrived complete with the unwanted sausage and his bacon was a greasy heap with burnt bits.
2. My 'creamy mushrooms' were swimming in watery milk, definitely not creamy.
3. Our toasted items seemed greasy on top and were hard on the underside.
4. Worst of all were the rubbery fried eggs which were wrinkled underneath with black/grey areas in the whites as if from a dirty pan.
We gave up trying to eat and took our plates up to the service bar in order to pay and to voice a complaint. However the chef ignored us as he was talking on his cell phone. After several minutes our waitress came but did not seem particularly concerned that we had not enjoyed our meals. We won't be going back.

Brunch with friends. There were five of us and didn’t have booking but no problem. Indoor and outdoor options. Chose the lovely courtyard area with lovely garden. Friendly efficient staff. Great coffee. Good selection food we all chose the avo smash which strangely arrived without the avo but this was quickly sorted. Delicious food and will return.

Stopped in for breakfast. Lovely fire and warmth to the place. Food was high quality and coffee was steaming hot. Great place to stop and enjoy some great simple food. Nothing seemed to be a problem so even the fussiest eater can be satisfied.

We were after a light lunch and stopped here - my partner had the Vietnamese Chicken noodle salad ($28) and I had the falafel salad ($24). My plate had a moderate scattering of baby spinach leaves, some chopped cucumber, a little grated carrot and a few cherry tomatoes with 4 warm felafel balls, some yoghurt and a decent spoonful of uninspiring chilli jam. It was nice. My partners salad was also on the small side with perhaps a few pieces of chicken, some shavings of red capsicum and roasted peanuts with a disproportionate amount of vermicelli noodles. He said it was very tasty but small. I wouldn’t rush back there but it was fine, just not great.
Service was very nice, but slow (we ordered and it took 30 mins from then)

Stopped for lunch after a 25 km bike ride. Beautiful weather, so enjoyed lunch outdoors. Friendly staff, like anywhere in NZ. Ordered a Vietnamese chicken salad - fresh veggies and delicious, tangy dressing. Ordered a lemon lime bitters drink - freshly made in house. GREAT thirst quencher! Highly recommend this restaurant. Ambiance was awesome as well.

Two of us had Dinner. A log fire in the centre of the restaurant created a pleasant atmosphere. Staff were friendly & welcoming.
Great cocktails - recommend the "Postmasters Kicking Mule"
Not a large menu selection, but adequate choices.
One of us had 'Surf & Turf' & the other had 'Green Curry' both perfectly presented & delicious. Finished with a "Scoop of Homemade Ice Cream" for the very modest cost of $4 each.
On our experience surprised Postmaster is only rated 9 out of 21 restaurants in Aroowtown!

We called in for a coffee and scone with jam and cream after our walk. This cafe offers table service and we were welcomed by a very friendly staff member. The service is great, coffee is Switch and very nice and scone a lovely old-fashioned treat that suits the surroundings in this charming building. We were lucky to sit on the verandah at the side of the cafe but prime spots would be at the front facing the road, but they were already taken. Excellent choice and popular.

We were booked for 7.30 and told that was the only time they had - also to be advised that the kitchen was closing at 8pm. We left the restaurant at 8.40.
We were a party of four and my hubby and myself ordered Roast Lamb only to be served up two slices of lamb which had obviously been sitting heating - roast lamb that was pressed as in round ?!?!!? $45 per plate with not much else on it.
Never again especially after I witnessed a waitress drop a fork and the pick it up and wipe it with a napkin.
Overpriced and awful unfortunately

Went to Postmasters last night and it was lovely. It was quite chilly in Arrowtown so the warmth of this place was very welcomed. I ate the coconut and tamarind curry which was vegan- it was very nice but the roti was a little disappointing as it was more like crisp bread than roti. My partner had the chicken risotto and he said it was very good.
He also had the brownie desert which he liked. They had vegan dessert options but I was full from dinner.
I would recommend if you’re in Arrowtown and looking for vegan options or just nice hearty food.

The cauliflower salad was delicious, as was the fry-up where I had mushrooms instead of sausage (they'd run out). We had a side of fries and they were hot, crispy on the outside, soft inside and seasoned with something out of this world. The fruit crumble was yummy too. Fantastic staff, and I was glad I'd rung just before arriving to check they could take 2 of us. School hols on a gloriously sunny day meant the whole town was packed to the rafters.
