Stopped in for lunch when traveling north. The Hungarian Goulash with Cauliflower Bake was absolutely delicious, and that with the friendly staff made it a really special.

So glad we walked into this cafe! We had lamb and gravy rolls with chips and salad. It was fantastic! Best gravy with lamb straight from the oven and coffee was brilliant. We even ordered take away salads to have for dinner.

I had breakfast here - eggs choice is fried or scrambled - not poached?? Otherwise the food was salty and a bit greasy. The coffee is ok but not the best I have had. Service is good and fast.More

Thank you for taking the time to review, We have a very small kitchen so pouched eggs are actually quite difficult with our kitchen set up. The bacon in locally sourced and smoked so maybe more salty than you are used to, so next time...More

Everyone loves our chicken burgers and the chips with the aioli sauce. Next time you will need to try our deserts.

Our town has many cafes but there are only 3 places where we eat regularly. Cafe Matisse is one of them. The food is always good, inexpensive and generous serves, combine that with friendly country town service and you have a pleasant experience.

Description
At Cafe Matisse they believe Variety is the spice of life. A small French style cafe that provides fresh home cooked meals and delicious coffee in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Owners Jacques and Jacqui Martin are passionate about food as they know it is all about flavour, and it is the combination of great food and friendly service that has the locals coming back every week. For some it is the coffee, others love the tempting deserts. Jacque, the chef, is constantly experimenting with flavours to ensure every dish, every pastry and every mouthful they serve contains something to delight the palette. With dishes inspired from France, such as the chocolate tart and fresh baked quiche, Café Matisse offers more than the average café style food.
