On arrival one could think your choice was an error as the premises are small unremarkable and on the side of the road. You would be right but prepare yourself for a surprise. On entering passing the lit stove you could think you were in an English country village pub. Service was very friendly and genuine not the usual tourist... More

Small privately owned restaurant in the town centre of amancil. Ok you would walk past it if you didn't know what food was waiting for you inside, well worth a visit for a relaxed evening on a dark night .

Stumbled across this restaurant on Trip Advisor and decided to book a table whilst staying at the nearby Conrad Algarve. Didn't know what to expect when we arrived but it ended up being one of the best meals of the holiday. Small intimidate venue with great hospitality. The staff are all extremely friendly, especially the maitre'd. The food was as... More

Do not be put off by outside appearances it is a small restaurant about 30 covers but the food and service is great. The menu is not extensive but all the dishes are well cooked and attractively presented. Cost about 30 euros ahead including wine.

This was our third visit to the Pig and Whistle and whilst we had a good meal it wasn't as enjoyable as our previous visits. The portion sizes seemed smaller and we didn't feel the meal was as good value for money as previously. We were disappointed with the boiled new potatoes and really small portion of vegetables which were... More

Visited Pig & Whistle on the last day of our holiday. It's a beautiful, rustic restaurant with plenty of character. The food is 5 star without being pretentious and the prices are very reasonable. Was offered a free glass of port after dinner which was very nice. An essential visit for anyone staying near Almancil. We will definitely be back!

We had not been here for 2 years and must say that the quality of the food is exceptional. I had the salt cod which was super, super while the wife had stuffed chicken breast in a red wine jus, delicious. Everything was perfect, food ,service, atmosphere that we went back a few nights later. Glad we did.Book its quite small.

Debated booking here having drove past several times (main road through Almancil). But, because of the comments on here decided to give it a whirl and so glad we did!! Once inside the quaint little courtyard, you have no idea you're on a main rd. As for the quality of food and service, it's excellent. The staff are obviously happy... More

Having been going to The P&G for a few years now , the review of the food is that the standard of cooking is still very good , the one remark I would make that it's not had a change of menu in all that time which for the last three years also includesthe special which has always been salt... More

Lovely evening here. It's the first time we tried it as have historically been put off by the name, thinking it perhaps wasn't very authentic. However we couldn't have been more wrong. Great options on the menu. The pernod and garlic prawns for starter were delicious and then the duck was delicious for main. We didn't have dessert as they... More
