Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a fantastic place. I stayed as a solo traveller and was made to feel part of the family from even before I arrived as Andy, the manager had called me the day before. The food in the restaurant is superb, with the stubble being...one of the best I had ever eaten. My room was wonderful, the staff so helpful and the overall ambience being one of a friendly and kind local pub. The manager, Andy, is the best, I have never come across such a wonderful manager - so caring and considerate. I cannot recommend enough - either for a stay before a trip from the airport or for a weekend exploring the area and enjoying the pub food. Simply amazing - thank you !More

Great pub/restaurant. Took my neighbours to lunch as a thank you and it was just great. Beautifully decorated with a great ambiance. Beer (Timothy Taylor Landlord) was in first class condition and the food was lovely. Tasted as good as it looked. This establishment is...a credit to the management and staff. Highly recommended.More

We have just stayed for two nights attending a wedding nearby. The pub is a lovely place to stay. The staff are super friendly especially Andy and the bar manager whose name I forgot 😩, and very accommodating. Our room was lovely although there was...no shower, we managed with bath and handheld shower. The breakfast was lovely and I would highly recommend staying here.More

We visited one Sunday without a reservation. Thankfully staff were able to accommodate us after some drinks at the bar. We all had three courses including the Sunday roast. We all agreed it’s the best roast dinner we’ve ever eaten out at a restaurant. Plus...great value for money. The staff were also lovely and welcoming. Simply a perfect visit.More

An enjoyable time was had at the pub restuarant. The atmosphere was good and so was the service. We were well looked after and my experience was better than anticipated. The pricing was fine but in particular the seabass portion was two very small thin pieces...of fish. Parking was easy.More

We had a wonderful 3 course meal at the Cricketers Arms. We ate as part of a large group (4 adults and 3 children) and had great service throughout. Our favourite starters included the squid and chicken liver parfait, with the mains of steak and...pork especially going down a treat. The cookie dough pudding was to die for – we just about had space to share one! The food was presented beautifully and there was something for everyone. The wine list has been expertly put together – we enjoyed a new world red and a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The children’s menu is also great value for money. We hope to return at the next opportunity.More

Had such an awesome Monday night out with friends at the Cricketers Arms. A small group of us met for a meal out and we had an amazing evening. The setting is stunning and we managed to get a table out on the patio so...we could enjoy the lovely evening weather and sunset. The staff were extremely welcoming and efficient, Izzy our waitress was very friendly and helpful, always there we needed anything. The food was very yummy, I had the fish and chips which was a generous portion, the fish was tasty, the fat chips were my favourite. A must for anyone looking for a great relaxed evening out.More

Very disappointed with the meal on bank holiday Monday. We had pre booked for a family celebration . On arrival we were left standing for quite a while before anyone acknowledged us. Then had to wait for our table to be laid which felt awkward...and unwelcoming. The service was terrible. Had to wait ages for our mains mine was cold but didn't say anything as we had waited so long. Apologies were given and drinks taken off the bill but the same thing happened with dessert!!! Then...to cap it all the waitress announced very loudly the price of the meal to everyone when presenting the bill! Sad to say we won't be returning.More
