We booked as I understand it can be busy, however on this occasion the half term holiday herds hadn’t appeared; which gave the venue a very relaxed feel. There is now a summer menu as well as a special starters list We sampled from both and really enjoyed the food here. The lady who served us was friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu and assisted us in small variations we requested. A lunchtime well spent!

Stopped here on our way from Wokingham to Blakeney in Norfolk. Easy to park at the pub which is right in front of a cricket green, and by an area where we could walk our dog. We were very pleased with the welcome that we, and our large dog, received, which set the tone for the visit. We were attended to promptly by a very cheerful waitress, who took our drinks and food order. We did not have to wait long before our meals were served - pan fried salmon and fish & chips. I can honestly say that the meals were delicious and we both really enjoyed them. We then had dessert - flourless chocolate cake and sorbet, again both delicious. We enjoyed the visit so much that we intend to call in on our return. (No photos as food smelt so good I didn't think to take any!)

We had a wonderful 3 course meal at the Cricketers Arms. We ate as part of a large group (4 adults and 3 children) and had great service throughout. Our favourite starters included the squid and chicken liver parfait, with the mains of steak and pork especially going down a treat. The cookie dough pudding was to die for – we just about had space to share one! The food was presented beautifully and there was something for everyone. The wine list has been expertly put together – we enjoyed a new world red and a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The children’s menu is also great value for money. We hope to return at the next opportunity.

Very disappointed with the meal on bank holiday Monday. We had pre booked for a family celebration . On arrival we were left standing for quite a while before anyone acknowledged us. Then had to wait for our table to be laid which felt awkward and unwelcoming. The service was terrible. Had to wait ages for our mains mine was cold but didn't say anything as we had waited so long. Apologies were given and drinks taken off the bill but the same thing happened with dessert!!! Then...to cap it all the waitress announced very loudly the price of the meal to everyone when presenting the bill! Sad to say we won't be returning.

Dear Mr Tarran Firstly, we sincerely apologise re your lunch with ourselves on Monday. I personally recall liaising with you and removing said drinks from your bill because our service was not up to our usually high standards on this occasion. Zero excuse but on this day, albeit planned internally for a busy service, we incurred exponential walk-in diners, thus creating delay with both mains and desserts for your table. With all sincerity, this isn't how we portray ourselves and for that once again I apologise. I note your comments re 'wont be returning' which saddens me and the team and we would love the opportunity to right a wrong asap. We hope you will give us another chance to show you our usually high standards. Kind regards Andy (General Manager)

This is a lovely friendly country pub in a beautiful village. We (me, my husband and my mum and our dog) stayed from good Friday until Easter Sunday for a short break away. The rooms of this pub are very large and very comfortable with everything you need. One of the rooms even had a fridge (room 4) which was very handy. Only downside of rooms are the shower rooms are pretty small and shower also small but realise there’s not much else they can do with the bathroom space. Everything very clean. We had dinner & breakfast both days. The dinner was really nice good quality food and tasty and well cooked on both nights. Breakfast also very tasty with s few different options to choose from along with the continental to choose from on a large laid out table. Andy (the owner I think) & Issy especially very friendly and helpful. Thanks for making this a lovely stay and we’ll definitely be back and cannot recommend enough.

I have just had my wedding at The Cricketers and I have to say the whole day was absolutely amazing! The team are second to none, they pulled out every single stop to ensure my day was perfect. Lydia, Andy and Jacob went above and beyond on all of my extra requests (balloons/flowers/candles/lanterns/cushions/sweet jars etc.) and I cannot thank them enough. The service they provided was seamless from start to finish. I could not have wished for a more perfect setting and the food, (breakfast, canapes, evening meal/supper, canapes, and buffet were excellent.) My guests were in awe of the place and the team there, the feedback was superb! My guests were extremely happy saying it was the best wedding they had been to. I booked all of the rooms for my guests and again, the feedback was, great value for money, very comfortable/clean rooms with everything they needed on hand. By far, the best, was the effort put in, to ensure our day ran so successfully. Thank you!

An enjoyable time was had at the pub restuarant. The atmosphere was good and so was the service. We were well looked after and my experience was better than anticipated. The pricing was fine but in particular the seabass portion was two very small thin pieces of fish. Parking was easy.

Been frequenting this pub for a few years now. In addition to the fabulous location, they have recently taken on a new Bar manager who is a big character in the community and is already making an impact on the atmosphere, attendance and quality of service. We took the family for a meal this week and the place was vibrant and buzzing. The food has always been good but the service was noticeably improved, with staff attending quickly and engaging in a friendly and proactive manner... It is definitely a good time to give the Cricketer Arms a visit!

Had a lovely meal here on a sunny monday evening with a group of friends. The food and service was phenomenal!! I had the steak which I had asked to be cooked M/R and it was one of the best steaks i’ve ever had along, with very generous and delicious sides! My friends had the fish and chips which were also delicious. Will definitely be returning.

The pub and restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere although would have been better if the fire was going. Dinner here was excellent very tasty food and good friendly service. I found everything here a little expensive and didn’t realise until I got home that you charged me 10% service charge on afternoon and evening drinks as well as dinner as everything went on our tab when we arrived in the afternoon, a lot of the drinks we had we got ourselves from the bar so not sure a service charge is warranted. We stayed the night and found the room very dated, had a musty smell, tap that moved about plus bed a little uncomfortable. Also the light in the corridor was going off and on alight, not sure why. Breakfast was good although waitress. could have been a little friendlier and didn’t like the idea of making my own tea and toast

Dear Downba, Many thanks for reviewing our facilities. Apologies regards the service charge applied, if you're attaining drinks from the bar. Once an allocated tab is 'opened' the additional discretionary charge is applied, which given the aforementioned, we should remove on payment. I have personally noted your reservtion within our hotel, and will inspect said room re comments. Our buffet breakfast accompanies our hot breakfast offer, which is a bespoke facility within the restaurant, thus catering for all guests. We look forward to seeing you again. Regards Andy @ TCA

I booked the whole of the Cricketers' Arms out the night before my wedding at Quendon Hall, and had my family, groomsmen and bridesmaids staying in the 10 rooms. We also had a private area booked the night before the wedding for around 30-40 guests with food sharing boards and drinks. The Cricketers Arms is only a couple of minutes from the driveway for the wedding venue. Rooms were spacious especially the Lords Suite. Some rooms had low beams so I would enquire before staying if you are particularly tall. The bed was incredibly comfortable in my room and looked out on the cricket green. I had a great night's sleep, my only point to note is that the water pressure in the front part of the building was not great so I could not use the large freestanding bath in the suite. Breakfast was very good - just be prepared to wait a little while if the kitchen receives a lot of orders at the same time. The staff were all very accommodating to our requests and even gave us some extra outside space for our party to stretch out a bit. We had some great sharing boards with charcuterie and fish/hamburger sliders. In particular I'd like to mention Daniel, who was very well organised when it came to our booking and a great help on the night; and Lydia who I communicated with beforehand and led me through the options for our booking and food. Overall a great stay and I would love to go back!

Called into this pub/restaurant during an impromptu drive in the surrounding countryside on a sunny Sunday in August. It was busy and the restaurant inside was fully booked but we were offered a seat at the benches by the cricket pitch. We had the slow roasted sirloin of beef which was delicious with the best roast potatoes and gravy I’ve ever had with a Sunday roast in a pub restaurant. This was followed by dark chocolate mousse which was also delicious. The food was just about perfect but the customer service was something else. It was busy and the service reflected that. The drinks we ordered came straight away. The waiter and I can only assume the owner at all times did inform us that we may have a slightly longer wait for our food order and constantly kept us informed of the progress of our order. Sitting in the sun with our drinks was not unpleasant and we were rewarded for the slight wait with excellent food and a relaxing lunch. The excellent customer service took no effort at all and a lot of hospitality outlets could learn a lot from how this pub restaurant operated. Recommended both for the food and the service.

If this was in a town centre, you'd be paying twice as much for food of this quality, and it would easily be amongst the best restaurants in town. Taste, texture and colour are combined in interesting and fresh combinations to produce subtle twists on old favourites, and to deliver truly innovative creations too. We are regulars now, and never get bored with the food. Pleased to say that despite how busy they were on a sunny Saturday afternoon, all the staff were really bright and cheerful, and there were no long wait times for food. We'll be back very soon!

Positives: Our room was light and spacious. The bed was large and comfortable. There was a kettle for tea and coffee, as well as a couple of bottles of mineral water. Negatives: The room felt tired, it was hard to regulate the shower, and for the location, it was surprisingly noisy early in the morning. Summary: I was expecting more for what we paid. I don't think the room and breakfast merit the £160 per night cost. In my opinion, £100 is closer to what we felt it was worth.

Shocked with the price of rose Prosecco. A whole £18 more than white making 1 bottle £48! Insane. Such a shame as a local pub which is friendly and has great food and ambience. But over £100 for two people for a salad and a burger is ludicrous for a lunchtime midweek quick lunch break.
