As a regular visitor to the G&D I have loved it for years, and the food is some of the best (but not THE best) around in terms of pubs that serve food in the mid-Cheshire area. The only reason I gave this 4 stars...More

Sorry to hear Jackie wasn't smiling on your last visit. She does smile from time to time and it's a joy to behold, but behind her stern expression is a person who's passionate about customer service and attention to detail. So perhaps she's concentrating so...More

I went to this pub today. The moment I walked in, I had high hopes for the food as the tables were so immaculately set out for lunch. The pub looked wonderful. There was a good selection of vegetarian meals; which in my experience can...More

A good country pub in a charming little village. Food looked nice and locally brewed real ales, with warm fires make this a good place to stop for a drink after going on a walk around the surrounding countryside.More

Thank-you for taking the time to review our Country Pub. The team are all very proud of the 'Hidden Gem' and take great pleasure in the positive reaction newcomers have to our traditional style and warm welcome. The most common comment is; "There're not many...More

Last night, we called into the George and Dragon, just for a drink @ 5-45. Many tables set for diners, many reserved. We were bringing friends from abroad to show them this lovely old pub, but we're told there was no room for having a...More

Sorry to hear there was "no room at the Inn" on the occasion of your last visit. We are sometimes victims of our own success. The Bar does get very busy and we are now (as a result of your comments) NOT RESERVING ALL BAR...More

Very pretty village, good view of church, outside seats in good weather, can be problems parking as village was designed for horses not SUVs. Service can be "variable" but inside is traditional "pub". Locals friendly, food usually ok but there is only a small kitchen...More

Thank-you Don for your FIVE STAR REVIEW, as a local yourself you'll know how friendly they are. Not exactly unqualified praise but a classic Hammond Rating none the less. Don't ever change old chum.
