Decided to try the George and Dragon as we were visiting Arley Hall near by. They went out of their way to fit us in and the staff were really helpful The food was delicious and my boyfriends Yorkshire pudding looked huge! Would definitely visit...again.More

My friend and I went to the George & Dragon for a meal last Friday evening (7th Jan) and thought I’d share my thoughts, especially after the silly review previous to this one. The pub and decor are beautiful, and as stated in the last...review, no one was wearing masks - this was great to see, why would people wear them? It’s not normal! If the last reviewer felt that strongly to mention it in a review, why didn’t they ‘stay home, stay safe?’ Anyway, back to my review, the food my friend and I had was of the highest standard and we were served by a really friendly young member of staff too. All in all, a great experience and it was exactly as we’d have expected to pay. We will definitely return!More

We went there to treat for my wife’s sister who had been on her own over Christmas as a result of COVID restrictions. Were led there by the warm pubby appearance. We all put a brave face on it but were very let down by...the packed interior, no one wearing masks, and the general feel of being rushed. The real issue was the food, I chose the duck a l’orange, my favourite dish, and the others followed. What we got was greasy and done to a crisp, probably in a deep fat frier. It sat on some slimy vegetables in a sauce which must have come from a jar and tasted vaguely of oranges. Ugh! The fries were nice, however, as were the desserts. The maitre’d made a routine enquiry about whether we were enjoying the meal, and before we could think of a polite answer turned on his heel. Seems to me they have become complacent by being so popular.More

Best Sunday Roast I’ve had, great portion sizes and excellent service. We all had a great time. Only gripe would be all the fox hunting memorabilia but I suppose that’s to be expected in some countryside pubs. Will definitely return.

The Building is absolutely beautiful and the food and service were absolutely exceptional. Best food and service I’ve had in a very long time and will be returning again in a few weeks time. Can’t recommend enough!

This is a classic country pub. Good ales, a cosy well kept interior, a menu of pub favourites and welcoming staff. There are a small number of tables outside which are lovely in summer. The gluten free fish and chips are good and a key...reason we go back. But be warned - it’s always busy, so it’s worth booking ahead.More

We booked a table for 6 so we could eat prior to going to the Harry Potter Experience at Arley Hall. We arrived on time, sat down and ordered within 5 mins, which was good. food arrived after about 40 mins which was probably about...the limit i would normally wait before asking how long it might be, food was ok, large portions. staff seemed busy. I do have a gripe, a small one but nevertheless a gripe. My daughter wanted something off the Kids menu (Chicken strip) but was point blank refused. "the kids menu is only for under 10's" was the response. now she isnt 10, fair enough, but she does go to school and Is still considered a child by me. I enquired if we could maybe order 2 portions so they wouldnt lose out on the cost of a full adults meal? NO!! We are not allowed to do that, quite adamantly. So my daughter ended up ordering something she didnt want, which was dissapointing to say the least. In my opinion, this is a Petty rule that is pointless. Surely its better if a customer leaves happy having enjoyed their meal. its not as if you didnt have the chicken strips in the freezer is it? My 2 star review has to be based on the fact that my daughter didnt enjoy her meal, which was the whole point of the visit.More

They serve fresh, delicious food in a beautiful setting delivering excellent service every time. Cosy in winter, light & bright in the summer. We love it here, the quality of the food & drink never disappoints.

Love this pub, food is always great, friendly staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. Great Budworth Village is in such a picturesque setting so nice to go for a stroll either before or after your meal.
