Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice atmosphere (though the room felt cold despite there being a fire, had to keep coat on and zipped up for the whole time), friendly service, food arrived quickly, excellent real ales. Fish and chips was large (too much really, with no smaller option) but...the fish tasted slightly unpleasant, not actually off just not very nice, though it looked ok. Chips average, garden peas overcooked, mushy peas ok. Tuscan chicken, which I had here a couple of months ago, was ok-ish but not a patch on the Somerset chicken they used to do (with a creamy cider sauce). Lots of good reviews though, so maybe we were unlucky.More

We visited this pub for supper on a Saturday evening. We were lucky and got a table at short notice. The welcome was warm, the service was cheerful and quick. The food was lovely. Fish was cooked just right- in fact, everything was cooked well...and served hot. The price was very fair and they happily supplied two spoons for us to share a pudding. Thank you “Team Half Moon Inn”More

I have been to The Half Moon with friends for lunch several times. The last 2 visits for evening meals were with family inc one from the USA. All impressed with choice and quality of meals. The waitress is very knowledgeable and helpful. Comfortable setting....There is a car park at the rear and have always managed to park. It would be great if the online sample menu could be updated. Will be back with friends later in monthMore

Featured and recommended in the Good Pub Guide and Good Beer Guide. Locals' village pub. Light lunch of an excellent home made pea and ham soup. An average prawn cocktail. A benefit is smaller portions are available with the main courses. Doggy friendly. Log burner...in the cosy public bar. Probably lost some of its pubby charm following refurbishment. Friendly crew. 🇬🇧🇳🇿More

All ordered Sunday roast with beef. Couldn't eat the meat, unable to cut it very very tough. Gravy watery and very little veg. A few carrots, 2 small pieces of broccolli, 4 small roast potatoes and a ramakin of cauliflower cheese to share between 3...people.More

We chose to eat at the Half Moon Inn because of its very good Trip Advisor rating. It was very easy to book by phone and we were given a lovely, friendly welcome. The food was tasty and the portions generous without being over facing.

We attended a wake at the Half Moon. Just had to write a review on the food served. The veggie lasagne was gorgeous! also the Steak & Ale casserole was very nice too. Being disabled, although the loos aren't accessible they made every effort to...make sure I was comfortable.More

Nice little country pub with great service and good food. We ate dinner here whilst staying at the Premier Inn at Jn 29 on M5. Alternative to the Brewers Fayre or Miller and Carter. I had the local brew Ferryman bitter from the Exeter Brewery...and fishcakes and sweet potato fries served with a sweet chilli sauce and side salad. Fish cakes were perhaps a little over cooked as they were deep fried but otherwise very good. Finished with a lemon posset served with a red berry compote which complemented the sweetness wellMore

Was visiting Exeter Westpoint for a few days and booked here for Dinner on the Thursday night. Staff were super friendly, organised and the food was well cooked, delicious and there were plenty of options available on the menu. The experience was so good that...we booked for the Friday and Saturday nights too. Desserts were also delicious! Lots of locals drinking and eating always means its a good place to frequent. Free parking behind the pub available as well. Highly Recommended. Make sure you book though as its a very busy pub.More

Been to half moon a good number of times, always lovely, but on this occasion things were different. We all had the Sunday roast, the potato’s were burnt, and the stuffing was so hard we couldn’t even cut it, and the gravy was like water....Normally have the Kenniford pork belly, which is lovely, but the pork with the roast seemed like it was from a packet. Such a shame as we enjoy coming here. Maybe it was an off dayMore
