Me and the hubby were cycling around Rutland water and we came upon this pub as we have many times he he he. We locked up the bikes went inside and took a seat at the bar; good, attentive, busy, friendly staff and friendly locals, great atmosphere. We shared a bowl of chips which were nice, can't say anything about... More

After a long hot walk around Rutland Water we decided to have lunch and a drink here. Sitting outside in the sun was lovely, the real ale was very tasty and the baguettes were well filled and presented. Plenty of parking, walkers and cyclists welcome, they even have bike stands. Well worth a visit.

Walked into the pub for a drink with friends on our way to Rutland waters and ended up having one of the best meals. I had Sea Bass which was subtly grilled and flavourful. Good choice in the menu, Head Chef Diego was very friendly and set high standards for customer service. Look forward for my next drive as an... More

Lovely pub food at reasonable prices. Lovely pub with friendly staff though have to say service was a little slow. We weren't in a rush though so it didn't matter. You do need to book if you want to eat.

We reserved table for the first meal and enjoyed it so much we went back the next evening to enjoy more well cooked food. The choice of meals is good with an excellent range of specials. Plenty of choice on the standard menu from a sandwich to a full meal. Nice desserts. A selection of 3 real ales on our... More

Friendly, good menu choice, and lots of seating outside, a must stop when circling Rutland Water. Cycle and walker friendly with space to park your bike.

Having lived in Rutland my entire life, I feel somewhat embarrassed I only visited this establishment this week for the first time! It is a beautiful little pub/ restaurant near Rutland Water, seemingly very popular with cyclists taking on the 'around the rezzy' trail. A perfect pit stop for food and drink with a lovely seating area outside and really... More

Enjoyed a family meal on Easter Sunday here. Most items on the menu were around the 'traditional roast dinner'. Service was good (we had booked a table in advance) and the food portions excellent and quality good as well. The pub itself is a fair way outside Oakham in a sleepy hamlet. There is also a campsite alongside the car... More

Chose the Horse and Jockey as a central location to meet with friends. The pub is nice, with a pleasant ambience and helpful friendly staff, however my wife and I were quite disappointed with our food. We both took our choices from the specials board and both meals were quite disappointing. My wife's meal was a little dry and not... More
