In the middle of nearly 2 weeks overseas and having just arrived in Prague, I needed to eat something familiar and not heavy. I found Yamato on the Michelin Guide recommendations and liked what I read plus it was far away from where I was...located in the middle of the tourist heavy Old Town. (It's spring break from what I understand too.) Upon arrival there were only two tables seated including a family with 2 young children and a very traditional Japanese setting - stark and the lighting was a bit bright even for the more austere interior. Anyway... too late to change to my mind. Don't be deterred! The server was friendly and his English was perfect describing the nice variety of Japanese whiskeys to me. I had the misoshiru soup, a maki with avocado and tuna, and the traditional pork belly with a side of rice on his recommendation. I said I wanted "light" but having read about the chef, the pork belly seemed like a good thing to try. The fatty portions were melting into the broth leaving the meaty chunks for your chopsticks while the remaining food in the bowl swan in this velvety, flavorful broth. It was not "greasy" at all and it was wholly satisfying! The thin tuna slices on the maki also just melted in your mouth with a tiny bite from the microgreens on top. And the miso soup was perfect and to my liking, served very hot! Some reviewers complained about the prices. Perhaps I'm used to US prices and also just came from Paris, but I found the meal quite reasonable considering the overall quality, experience and very high end whiskey. I'm here 4 more days and think I'll find a way to go there again!More

Good food, but absolutely overpriced. The same applies to drinks. For example, several hundred crowns were paid for water. The quality-price ratio therefore significantly reduces the rating. I definitely do not recommend this restaurant.

Compliments to the service... It started out really promising. Although it is better to help your costumers when they are clearly not acquainted with the Japanese kitchen. Food is overpriced and not balanced in taste. Spent 110 euros for 6 dishes, a bottle of water,...two beers and a glass of (once more) uneventful wine. Go for the next one with a better price/quality balanceMore

We had a dinner menu, with 4 courses - small meal, section of raw fish, wagyu steak and sushi. Everything was just amazing. Very nice presentation of food (but sushi could be without the rucola). The Quality and taste of sashimi and the wagyu was...great. Sushi could be little bit better. The only thing that I would expect from this expesive restaurant is better interior, the tables are quite close together, interior is oldschool and you could hear basically everything.More

Excellent food, great service. Just take in account that’s very expensive. The waiter was very friendly and recommended for one of the best rolls I ever eat

Good sushi, nice atmosphere, and polite waiters. Miso shiru was very ordinarily with not so high quality tofu… However price was quite expensive. It would have been nicer if there were more casual dishes.

Real Japanese experience. Very interesting menu. All the courses were fantastic. Especially maki with foie gras or fatty tuna belly. Our waiter explained all the details about each course.Worth visiting on special occasion. Not cheap.

Good food and fine service. The Place is clean, well designed but nothing special. Prices are not competitive and fair. We spent 2660 Czech crowns for a 3 dishes dinner with 2 sides and not even wine. Please don’t go. Menu: 6 Service: 6 Location:...4 Price: 1More

Came in the restaurant because we love Japanese food very much..Menu which was outside was very unclear in regard of pricing.Inside looks really well.Everything is clean, pragmatically arranged. However when we started to read menu and prices, we were totally shocked. We live in one of the...most expensive cities in USA.constantly travelling to NY.I have never seen such exorbitant prices for sushi and sashimi anywhere. We left because realized that price for the dinner will be 2 times higher than in the best NY Japanese restaurants.More

The combination of every dishes is very bad and salty. The quality of Sashimi is not fresh ( you can find the same quality or more , more , more better than this ). Same of Nigiri eel have a bad smell. From the first...dish to the fifth dishes, my stomach feel uncomfortable. The green tea is not Japanese green tea. The service is like one normal restaurant service that have. I don’t think can be an Michelin reccomented restaurant but they are... The price does not match all this bad point ! Too expensive for a terrible food ! I really hope you go to improve what is a really advanced Japanese food . More

This was our second visit. First time we went to Yamato was because we were given a voucher for a tasting menu including Kobe beef. It was so good that we came again with four friends. We all ended up sharing, each couple, the Kobe...beef tasting meat menu for two persons. None of us are big drinkers so we skipped the option of saké tasting. The food was truly excellent, each course with its own distinct taste and, in a truly Japanese style, the tastes were accompanied by the visual sensation of artistically arranged shapes. The service was superb, with an explanation given with each course as to what was being served. This is quite an expensive place but the experience is, in my view, completely worth it.More
