Staying on the edge of Kazimierz we went wandering and liked the look of this restaurant - turned out to be a great choice! The mixed Jewish dips plate starter was tasty and really whetted our appetite for the mains. My husband had the Polish pork ribs which were good if a little dry; I had the Czulent beef cheeks stew and it turned out to be one of the best dinners I have had in a long time! The live Klezmer music (flute and accordion) was played by highly accomplished musicians and just helped make the evening special. Service was friendly and helpful and our food arrived in good time; the courtesy final drink from the bar before we left was delicious! Highly recommended.

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. We had a lovely table in the cosy covered patio. Basia our waitress was very helpful in recommending dishes and we were not disappointed in our choices. My husband had the duck with cherry brandy sauce and I chose the veal chops with mushroom sauce and latkes. Both were delicious. The Jewish cheesecake was lovely too. A cross between a dessert and cheese and crackers! The Israeli riesling was very reasonably priced and very drinkable! The live music added to the atmosphere.

We had high hopes for our visit, the outside eating area was moderately busy, toasty warm and the three musicians were busy playing and were very good. Started with the quartet of Jewish pastes served with pitta bread, beautifully served but lacking in flavour or seasoning. Our main courses were equally uninspiring and unusually for Poland the portions were very small. An expensive and disappointing experience.

We had a tour of the area earlier that day and the tour guide had said to visit a restaurant in this area for Jewish food etc so we decided to wander back that night for dinner and this restaurant was the only visibly busyish restaurant so we thought that was a good sign and requested a table. We could hear the couple next to us saying how much they loved their food and this got us excited for ours but unfortunately, we can't say the same for what we had that night. I had the Eggplant to start with my partner having the Holiszkes, both were nice but nothing to rave or get excited about sadly. Our mains then came with my partner having the Chicken breast grilled with garlic butter (was told that it wasn't chicken though the menu is a typo and that it's actually turkey) he said it was very bland and dry due to there being no sauce. I had the Royal mix Pierogi which was so very very bland and the mushroom sauce was similar to the taste of mushroom soup and has a similar thick consistency. I left 2 pieces of Pierogi to which the waitress did ask if I didn't like it, I said I was just full but I was just bored of eating it to be honest. We then had the Jewish Cheesecake to share which was actually very nice. We asked for our bill which had the "Recommended Service Charge" which was fine but it also had an unknown charge of 39 zl at the start which we could not identify due to it being written in Polish. We did not question it as at this point we just wanted to go back to the hotel, the only thing we could think of is that it was for the entertainment that evening which was 2 men playing music off and on (1 song then they would disappear and return 5 minutes later, play another song and disappear so on so forth). Looking at other reviews I'm saddened that we had this experience and can only hope this isn't the norm.

We were advised to go to Awiw Restaurant by a tour guide. I do not know what happened during our visit by we were seated and just left. We eventually had to ask for menus. When we finally got our food, my wife had the duck breast slices and I had the lamb knuckle, the portion sizes were ridiculously small. My Wife is tiny and normally shares part of her meal with me. I am a tall guy and it takes some to fill me but normally between the two of us, we leave restaurants satisfied. This was the most expensive meal we had during our visit to Krakow and the least satisfaction. The food was good but my advice is to eat first before going or have at least 3 courses and a healthy credit card.

Thank you for your visit and feedback. We always approach the words of our guests with great attention and respect. We would like to address the argument of portion size and price. The aim of our restaurant is to give you the opportunity to discover the various flavors of traditional Jewish and Polish cuisine. Our dishes make this exciting journey possible by ordering appetizers, soups or salads and a main course. This is what home dinners look like in both these cultures. Referring to the issue of price, in our menu you can find dishes based on lamb, duck or deer. The price is the result of quality products.

Lovely little restaurant in the heart of the Jewish quarter. We had walked passed earlier in the day and felt the menu looked very inviting. We were not disappointed. We ate on the outside terrace, but this is covered in and very warm and cosy with plenty of heaters. The lights and pretty decorations added to the atmosphere making us feel welcome. We both had the half roast duck Jewish style. It was delicious, well cooked duck with a cherry and raisin sauce also an apple caviar that really complemented the duck. Very reasonable price. Would return again if in Krakow.

We have roamed into this restaurant by coincidence.Ask for -10% discount if you do not receive so at the introduction lady. We were not so hungry but we wanted to try some of the jewish cousine and it was delicious, we loved israeli salad very much. Also tried Falafel but it was for the first time so cant compare if it was good or bad. As a desert we chose apple pie which was perfect.

Szeroka ("broad") street is a square in the district of Kazimierz in Cracow. People come to this beautiful square to visit the Renaissance synagogues, listen to live music sometimes and gather in one of the cafes and restaurants. My preferred one on Szeroka is AWIW, a friendly, clean restaurant where you can eat outdoors, indoors or in the Baroque basement. What I particularly like is the combination of Polish traditional food (excellent pierogi and soups) with international cookery. This time I had roasted goatcheese on marinated beetroot and discovered that beetroot - the main ingredient of the traditional Barszcz soup and of other Polish dishes - can be reinterpreted in this way. A surprising, and excellent, result!

Location is lovely: in the heart of the jewish area of Krakow surrounded by many other israeli-style restaurants. This place looks very nice and staff is very polite. Jewish music will accompany you during most of the dinner. The food they serve is kind of jewish, but there are also other options. Vegetarian and Vegan guests, will have a nice selection of dishes to chose from. Tomato soup was good, but I highly recommend the beetroots on camembert and french-toast. I am sorry to say that their falafel are not that great. Within the desserts, they have a bailey's/chocolate ice cream cup, but what you get when ordering it, has nothing to do with the picture on the menu. The place is NOT KOSHER.

We had an appetizer "Traditional jewish stuffed cabbage with veal in roasted tomato sauce" and then she had an "Israeli salad" while I had the "Traditional Polish hunter’s stew from venison served in a bread bowl". Everything was very tasty. Good atmosphere and nice staff. Decent prices.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here on our final evening in Krakow. The menu was clearly marked with gluten free options which is great as I have coeliac disease. The food was delicious, tasty and reasonably priced! The servers were very polite and attentive throughout the whole meal! I hope to visit again one day.

Lovely meal in this restaurant where we were welcomed warmly by our waiter. The service was exceptional. We sat inside and it’s decor was lovely and the whole restaurant was very clean, tidy and comfortable. We had chicken and steak salads. The meat was cooked really well and the flavourings in my salad were possibly the nicest I have ever had. Our waiter was extremely helpful recommending drinks and very knowledgeable about the wine and vodka he was serving, he made my husbands day with his wine recommendations and advising us all the details of the wine incase we wanted to get some for ourselves. The dessert I had was really nice, i would highly recommend the warm raspberries and sauce with ice cream and cream! Our meal was finished off with a nice vodka shot!

We attended the place with a group of friends. The service was perfect, well aware of the ingredients and very familiar with the wines offered. The waiting time was pretty long but ... it worth to wait. We ordered almost everything offered in the menu and none of the dishes dissapointed us. So... we went there again for breakfast the next day. Kudos to the owner of the restaurant!

Awiw has a lovely outdoor seating area, which we enjoyed. The service was wonderful, our waiter was very attentive and courteous. The food was fresh and delicious. For drinks we had cider and house tea, they were very good. For starters, we tried the latkes and a veal stuffed cabbage leaf, they were good, though latkes were a bit dry due to overcooking…. We got a Royal Pierogi Mix in mushroom sauce, on the menu it was listed as porcini sauce, but in reality, it was chanterelles. We did not complain about that, as we are huge chanterelle fans. Also, we ordered Duck breast in cherry brandy sauce, which was absolutely wonderful, and the meat was perfectly prepared, medium rare. Finally, we had turkey liver dish, which was also excellent, not overcooked and full of flavor. We had a great meal.

Going by the reviews we were looking forward to eating here. We were very disappointed with both our waiter and the food. Waiter was very curt when taking our order and thereafter. When the food arrived it was very bland and not what we expected, the wine was very overpriced. The waiter never came near us after serving the food. There are far better restaurants in the vicinity than this one. Would not recommend
