Smakolyki restaurant comes highly recommended for its authentic Polish cuisine, with guests often lauding the generous portions and variety of delicious options. While some reviewers have noted occasional service hiccups, the value is widely acknowledged, with reasonable prices complementing the quality of food. The ambiance is frequently described as cozy and inviting, especially with the live piano music that enhances the dining experience. Although service is typically commended for being friendly and attentive, there are mentions of inconsistency in service speed.

We popped in here for early dinner during the busy festive period in Krakow. We didn’t have a reservation but a table was available. This restaurant gets very busy and is very popular with locals and tourists and is a very young hipster place. The food here is Polish and the menu is very varied with lots of choice. Sadly they didn’t have pierogi but the potato cakes were absolutely delicious. The service was also very good and despite being so busy our waiter was very attentive. The food here is great value for money and I would recommend for a really authentic Polish meal.

Worth seeking out on Straszewskiego, clearly frequented by plenty of locals for a comprehensive menu of polish dishes, all very good value. My wife had deep fried brie and salad, a well prepared, generous portion. I opted for Goulash with mashed potato and sauerkraut, very authentic. For dessert we shared apple pie and pancakes with a sweet cheese filling and raspberry sauce. Coffees were good. The restaurant has a welcoming layout, bright and airy and the service was excellent. All the waitresses spoke impressively good English and were cheerful and smiling. We would happily return on a future visit.

We stumbled across this place on Google maps from a nearby bar and really glad we did. We ate here twice. Modern interior but with a cool vibe. There was a pianist on the Friday we ate there, however, the main area was full so we had to eat at the back so were completely out of it. Book in advance I guess is the answer on the weekend. The service was very professional and friendly. We liked how you could order a main meal and select two of your sides which was good as we're not a big fan of the pickled veg and sauerkraut that is popular in Poland. Two of our favourite dishes that we tried were the goulash and schnitzel, or listed as 'pork fried in lard' on the menu. The portions were really very generous. It was really reasonably priced too. I think we had two courses each and 3 beers between us for under £20.

This place is unassuming and quite the hidden gem. It was busy and bustling on a Sunday afternoon but we were accommodated in the back room. Service was relaxed and we weren't rushed. We had 4 traditional polish meals, a few beers and soft drinks and the bill was less than a takeaway would be at home. All in all, a great find and would definitely return.

If you are looking for a decent place for lunch and you do not want to pay too much, that's a good choice. Food is very tasty, nicely-served and you do not need to wait too long for it. Wine was ok as well. Good option for tourists, students, groups of friends or families. Good value.

The server was very pleasant and helpful. I was debating between 2 dishes and she suggested that I order a half order of each. (The restaurant charges 70% of the full order.) She asked which dish I wanted first, and I told her the ziemniaczane (potato pancake), with the vegetarian stuffed cabbage to follow. Somehow, they both arrived at the same time. She took the cabbage back, but it arrived the second time with the sauce having congealed - disgusting. She graciously replaced it, but it still was not at all tasty. I also ordered still water for 9 zl, and what I got was a GLASS of water, not a sealed bottle. Did they charge me for tap water? The atmosphere is very pleasant, with a huge picture window that looks out onto a small road with trees just beyond. I didn't love the food, but if I were staying in Krakow for an extended period of time, I would give it another try.

The restaurant has a great location (walking distance from main attractions in downtown Krakau). It has a very inviting atmosphere and friendly service. Also great value (we had dinner for 3 including drinks for about €30!)

Visited after a day at Auchwitz with no reservation. Portions were large and hearty and filling which was very much needed. The only negative was out main came out as we were still eating our starters which has never happened before but we didnt make a fuss and just shuffled things round to fit on the table. The only complaint to a rather tasty traditional meal.

Totally satisfied with this esperience, we did not wait a lot for the food, which was truly good. The waitresses are so kind and open to changes in case you don't like one of the ingredients. 100% recommended if you're in Krakow :))

Visited a number of times during my recent visit to Krakow after it was recommended to me. It did not disappoint. A good menu, the food was hearty and wholesome and I really liked the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The service was fine, even when it was busy. I enjoy Polish food and will certainly return next time I am visiting the city. Highly recommended.

Nice busy place you may have to wait to get in. Staff all very young service can be slow but they try hard. Some can speak English. Small menu choices but adequate and well-cooked food. It's a lot cheaper than in the square, beers are 9 Zloty, in the square, they are 18 for the same thing. The only problem experienced when paying the CC machine defaults so quickly to paying in the card currency with extra fees and a poor exchange rate. Its law you have to be provided a choice to pay in local currency or the merchants' exchange rate which is always worse than your card bank. This happened to us twice but was eventually corrected by a very nice young man who knew what he was doing, he did say though even he was surprised how fast the machine goes once you enter your pin number. We always paid cash after that but they lost business because of it.Be careful and watch what is going on when you pay with your CC anywhere abroad, it could have cost us over £70 more just in fees etc over the week.

I would recommend making a booking here, as it was quite full when we arrived. That said, despite them saying it would be a 20-30 minute wait for a table, after 5 minutes two had become available, and we were seated in an area of the restaurant that was completely empty. I don’t know if they were trying to give off an illusion of booking fully booked for popularity or what, but we’re glad we decided to wait. Even an hour later there were still several tables empty so it wouldn’t have been a problem for them to say yes but we need the table back at X time. Our table was in the back downstairs, which almost felt like a separate restaurant as we couldn’t hear the live music from the main area at all, which is definitely a nicer atmosphere. That said, we really enjoyed our meal and the service was very quick. My beef rolls were delicious, and the goulash and meat pierogis were both tasty too, though my wife said the pancakes and pierogi dough were much heavier than we had elsewhere. The desserts were the highlight though (which we ordered to take away), they were exceptional - so light and gorgeous. The pistachio pie was the best, but the chocolate one was also brilliant.

Just had an excellent meal with my wife and daughter. Food was excellent had the sour soup with sausage and egg and also the grilled chicken with mushroom sauce. The restaurant is very reasonably priced. There is a piano player in the background who helps make it a laid back evening. Very happy and would definitely return.

This restaurant is a very good choice at any time of the day. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner during my stay in Kraków. Food is well cooked nicely presented and delicious. Generous portions, the dumplings are the best I’ve ever had and special mention to the Baltic herring, just so good! Soups are tasty , superb goulash and even the fried crispy chicken with fries and homemade coleslaw are special. Lovely breakfast, I tried the scrambled eggs with three toppings ( very nice) and delicious Kraków breakfast, so well presented! Special mention to the staff, all young, very friendly and professional running the place with no stress. Thanks you for looking after me!

Visited yesterday by a friend’s recommendation. The waitress was great and helped us order. The menu was fully English too and food was labelled with vegetarian, vegan etc which was great for us. The food was amazing! Our first experience of Polish food and it was so delicious. We couldn’t believe how cheap it was either. Would definitely recommend and visit again
