Verify that the bill only includes drinks you ordered. If paying by card, verify amount before handing card over to untrustworthy staff. This probably applies to every bar in Hungary. From my own experience, you can't really trust the Hungarians, at all. Hungary seems to be host to a population with a huge inferiority complex. They say the French are... More

We stumbled across this place on our first day and consequently returned for the remaining 3 nights of our holiday. For a pint of Soprani (local Hungarian beer which tastes amazing) was 495FT (around £1.50) which was the cheapest we found it anywhere in the city. The location is very close to the centre, just down from Elizabeth bridge which... More

Wonderful bar to relax and treat yourself with a couple of drinks. The clientele of the bar is a bit more mature than in other popular bars (totally devoid of drunken and loud teenagers) so you'll be able to unwind and have a pleasant, and most importantly, uninterrupted conversation. The prices are moderate, and the staff is very attentive and... More

Great bar to sit back and watch the world go by. Staff are brilliant and look after you. It's not a restaurant but if you a snack like pizza then it's the place for you

Located very close to our hotel (the main street, a local church and the city center) we used this place as a start and a stop destination on several occasions. The staff is very helpful and they have a wide range of drinks at reasonable prices. The food is nothing fancy but again reasonable cheap. Wifi is available. We will... More

Good drinks and friendly staff. No experience with the food. Have a piece of cheese cake and a Caucasian. I would come Here again.

This place I would say is decent there is nothing to complain about, but neither is there much to get excited about. The staff here is friendly, the beers are cold and the snacks are good.

Very minimal menu, this is more a sit and drink than a sit and eat, with not much more than a choice of salads, or pizza - which appeared via a bike half an hour after ordering My tuna salad was huge and very filling as was my husband's pizza - shame it wasn't really what we wanted, but as... In this place in budapest last sunday 14 december 2014 to have a few beers and watch footy. Good selection of beers and excellent service. Not too dear and close to city centre shops with a good mix of locals, students and tourists. One of best bars in budapest. Danny lambe, belfast

There are two Ibolyas side by side. One is a cafe with a selection of food, the other is a bar with a large list of local beers, spirits and other drinks. We have been to the bar several times and were first introduced to this place by a good Hungarian friend. They have two great local fruit beers, a... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
