The downtown area is a very nice restaurant. For lunch, we were in southern menu prices reasonable, the food really deserve a Michelin star! I suggest everyone who loves fine dining restaurants!

My husband and I dined at Onyx recently whilst visiting Budapest and we were both very impressed. The service was excellent and very attentive, the wine was lovely and every dish was delicious and presented beautifully (we had the degustation menu). They also had the best bread selection I have ever seen! All the bread tasted great too. We may... More

This is a gourmet treat that requires a lot of your time and not a small sum of money but well worth it. We went all out with the tasting menu with wine. Everything was delicious and the wine was fantastic with generous pours. Loved every minute, every bite and every glass of wine. If you are a foodie you... More

We were late for dinner - 9pm - but still ordered the tasting menu (8 menu items + 3 complimentaries) and ended up at 12 midnight. Better to start at 7pm and have enough time to enjoy. Food is excellent, a curious (but well thought out) mix at times giving us many new gastronomical experiences. Almost every dish perfectly put... More

Went there for lunch. They only had 3 course meal menu for the lunch with wine pairing. Nice selection of Hungarian wine, especially pinot noir like grape variety. Really enjoyed the foods and wines!! Want to try the dinner because I didn't have enough time to try the dinner here. Advance reservation seems to be required.

We celebrated our anniversary with the tastings menu and pairing wines last Thursday. Everything was just perfect - from the small greeting card they had for us on the table to the last sweet glass of dessert wine. Perfect service, beautiful plates glasses and cutlery, and of course devine food and high class wines. We have been there for four... More

Today my wife and I ate lunch at Onyx. This Michelin star restaurant is located just a block from the Kempinski where we were staying. Outside, the restaurant appears a bit modest however once you step through the door your impression changes immediately. The space is elegant, luxurious, comfortable, with a nice mix of both traditional European and contemporary elements.... More

We arrived with high expectations and though the food didn't disappoint the experience did. I can't say the service was bad, it was very good. It was the feeling that they knew we would were going to be awed by the food and wine so they didn't have to do more. Yes, the food was fabulous and everything was orchestrated... More

This is a very cheap micheline star resturant and the food is very good but I wouldn't say great. We had the tasting menu with wine paring plus a glas of sparkling before dinner for about 370?. As the dinner progressed the food became better and better. The final desert being the absolute best thing on the menu. If you... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
