First night in Budapest, and we wanted to eat 'local' - our hotel manager recommended this restaurant, 8 minutes from our location. What a lovely courtyard location for a restaurant (see pic)! First I chose a Hungarian Riesling which was lovely. We then both at the Goulash Soup Noodles, which were both rich in flavour and filled with beef and... More

Decor is still the old world but food is excellent. From the Goulash to the meats and fish all the dishes were delicious. Friendly staff and English speaking. Our night there at the end of April was cool so we ate inside with very good music from a Pianist. Staff called a taxi for which came inside the courtyard to... More

This restaurant is located in the internal courtyard of a building, if the temperature is right it is better to eat outside rather than inside, as the internal room is quite old fashioned with a sad decor. On the other side we had one of the best duck breast in Budapest. If you like the owner can play the piano... More

We had a beautiful meal at this restaurant on Sunday 29 January. Set in and old palace, the food was brilliant and the service perfect. It was surprising that we were the only customers given how good it is and could only surmise that people had difficultly finding it (you have to go through an archway off the road and... More

We spent New Year's Eve in this former palace and were treated to excellent food, I particularly enjoyed the smoked dried plum soup, and the waiters were attentive and courteous .There was lively music throughout the evening. After fireworks at midnight we were treated to extra snacks: lentils to bring good luck for the year ahead and cabbage soup to... More

A nice restaurant with friendly staff. The food was very enjoyable but could have been a bit hotter. The interior was quaint with a pianist playing whilst we ate. We had a lovely bottle of Tokai with our dessert. It was an enjoyable evening and good value for money.

The service was very helpful and nice. The piano was pleasant, but we haven't payed much attention. I expected the food to be more Hungarian, but apparently it was adapted to tourists taste. I had pancakes (for the starter and the main dish), correct and well prepared, but it was not a culinary experience to remember.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
