Memorable setting. Good service, great cakes. Don't feel intimidated by the ambiance it's really laid back and a lovely way to enjoy some of Budapests finest cakes. Would recommend

Well, this has to count as one of the very few occasions where tripadvisor reviews led us astray. It really has only one thing going for it, and that's the decorative ceiling. The coffee is average, so if you want to check out a chain bookstore, get out of the heat, and check out the decor, then fine. But, whatever... More

pardon us for what may seem a silly question, but are you sure you are speaking about our particular bookshop cafe? as we have no decorative ceiling, nor scones of any sort, and we are certainly not a chain store, and we don't have overpriced tasteless cakes. it almost sounds like you are speaking about a different place, probably the... This cafe is more or less hidden in the second floor of a bookstore, and yet so far is the best coffe shop we've experienced in Budapest. Entering the room we were greeted with live piano music and an absolutely amazing decor. The staff was friendly and effective, making us feel welcome, and the food was excelent. We tried a... More

A stunningly beautiful room makes this place worth a visit. Service is good, but the cakes in general weren't up to the prices and ambience. Note that you can just walk and have a look, take a few photos and leave -- people were doing that all the time.

A little pricey but worth it for the amazing ambience. Service was excellent. We had coffee and cakes. They were very good. Free wifi and even a few plugs to use! A lovely tourist stop.

This is a Must for those who want more than partying. This place provides you with a grasp of the atmosphere 100 years back. Relax & enjoy the calm, but attentive service provided by waiters who could have just stepped down from a theatre stage to you table.. Drinks are plenty and full of creative mood, coffee & tea excellent,... More

The cafe is absolutely beautiful. The staff wasn't super friendly, and the prices are high, but it's worth it just to be inside this beautiful building

It is located at the upper floor of Alexandra bookstore. You would be amazed by the first sight from the escalator. The staffs were attentive and friendly. A young waiter served us nicely and recommended a Hungarian breakfast meal, Korozott friss bagettel es friss zoldsegekkel, tasty. We also ordered a Salmon Scone, in which the scones were very filing. The... More

A wonderful cafè hidden upon a library. Good cakes for relatevely cheap prices( 700-900 ft ). It's very richly decoreted and exquisite atmosphere, on my opinion perfect for a romantic occasion.

Just a few minutes up Andrassy Ut from the Opera house but on the opposite side you will find the Alexandra book shop. When you ride the escalator up to the first floor you enter a jewel-box interior that makes you fell like you've just stepped into a Burne Jones painting. Two enormous chandeliers reflected in almost floor to ceiling... More
