Very polite and kind, but sadly they don't have gluten free cakes/ desserts. Pity, as they have delicious GF cakes in there Sunday Brunch.

We stopped in for coffee, after arriving an hour early for a boat tour we'd booked. But when Hubby saw the cake table in the middle of the room, plans changed. European bakeries are fantasy lands for people with a sweet tooth, and Marriott's Lobby Cafe displayed some of the prettiest cakes I've seen. You help yourself to whatever cake... More

After reading in lonely planet and on trip advisor about the all you can eat cake buffet we decided to make a trip over to the Marriot. Having got there and sat down ready to order drinks (expensive ones at that) we were told the cake buffet had stopped being served back in April. With drinks that price we decided... More

Dear Brad P, Thank you for taking the time to write on TripAdvisor, I apologize that we still have on some channels advertisement for the cake buffet, we took it off in April since we had hardly any customers enjoying it, what should have happened is that you would have still able to enjoy it, this is how I instructed... A comfortable place to enjoy drinks before dinner. Service a tad slow, but otherwise reasonably priced.

The Marriott lobby is THE place for high tea. The tortes, cakes and pastries make your mouth water from across the room. Share a champagne toast to go with your sweets and be transported back to Old Hungary!

The Lobby is a good break from the tourist scene. You can sit have coffee snack and watch the world and Danube go by. It is a bit expensive but you pay for the ambience and service

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
