This restaurant was recommended by Richard of the Drop Shop. My grandparents were both born in and around Budapest but immigrated to the US in the early 1900's. I grew up eating Hungarian Dishes my grandmother made every Sunday and the food here from the...More

This is the best non kosher traditional "communist" style retro eatery on famous Klauzal square. For many years we came here every Saturday with friends, to have a Matzoh Ball soup, a Solet with goose leg and Aranygaluska ( is a rich yeast-raised Hungarian dessert...More

The best stuffed cabbage I've found outside of my grandmother's kitchen. Fantastic lunch place with tons of personality. It's not luxe, has but very authentic homemade dishes.

We checked in a bit late - 14:30. Nevertheless the host was very friendly and despite some dishes were sold out we 'managed' to have best Hungarian food for kids and adults. Excellent value for money.

The atmosphere of the restaurant seemed genuinely authentic rather than pretending to be - it was one of the most real-seeming places we went. The decor looked like it had been unchanged for decades, with simple plastic table cloths (as you can see in the...More

District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses
the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and
colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in
an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes
and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic
crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of
the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in
Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly
